Man, bye week is kicking our butt.

???? Except for Dallas none of these guys see the field or are even listed on the two deep. Dallas isn't even on the two deep except for returns. I think that is what is prompting these decisions. Not worth getting bent about IMO... Wish the best for these guys.

I think you will see A LOT of this in the off season as some of the players that were never SEC caliber begin to realize that they will have more success elsewhere as we bring in some great players. This HAS TO HAPPEN so the program can make a leap forward I think.

I wonder with the losses and SRs how may positions we are losing? I know a lot depends on some of the jrs leaving as well.

Only junior that I see that might even possibly leave would be Tiny. Not sure if he stays or goes. bUTch may be attempting to re-recruit him so he will stay for his senior season.

That doesn't help us with the 25 man limit (30-32 this year depending on who you ask). But it does help ensure that we will have enough spots on the 85 man roster to take a full class.

Correct, players leaving does not affect the recruiting class numbers. However, I believe it does free up spots that can be filled with preferred walk-on players. I don't know if there is a limit on that. If there isn't, and there are an excessive amount of 3 star JUCOs and freshmen walking on, I can see someone calling the NCAA, and starting an investigation.

OK, I'll take a stab at it. I count 19 SRs on scholly;
Neal, Bullard, Stone, Fulton, James, Ayres, Miller, Jaq Smith, Hood, McCullers, Couch, Walls, Sapp, Propst, Brewer, G. King, Crump, Moore, Palardy.

With Posey, Dallas, & Meredith gone, I have 79 total now on scholly. If that # is right (which it may not be) that's 60 plus 30 incoming in 2014 equals 90 total, meaning only 5 more would need to leave/transfer out to reach 85 next fall.

Hopefully Larry (LWSVOL) or another VN guru will come along & correct any mistakes in my numbers.

Blanc has played every game this season and all but the fla game last year. He has played special teams and lined up at receiver also. They have either not thrown him the ball or it has been intercepted by bad throw. Or uncatchable.

You realize no one has signed yet. Being blindly ignorant must let you sleep well.

That's good, perhaps he's satisfied with his PT and will remain a Vol... hope so.

Ok, I am not an expert on all of this, but as a couple have said previously, this does not effect the 2014 class. There is a cap, and we cannot go over it no matter who leaves. I believe it will increase the 2015 class because that one is going to be lower because of the high number in 2014.

Now, as far as the 85 number, you have to remember that coaches give scholarships out to walk-ons at the beginning of the year if they have some left toward the 85. You may as well reward a kid if you have them. They won't always carry over to the next year. I know that Toney and Carter and probably Sumerhill were given scholarships this year. There will most likely be more attrition after this as well.

LOL- that's about the dumbest reply to any of my posts ever. I think it's reasonably safe to assume that the bulk of this class will hold together. Of course reason seems to escape a person that would respond to what is in my post in the way you did. :good!:

BTW- my post was primarily concerned with the caliber of talent that seems to be reevaluating their future at UT and I'm certain we need to, and will, upgrade our talent at all of these spots. Thanks for playing but you are obviously the ignorant one in this case. Sleep well. :peace2:

I count 58 returning scholarship players for next season.

That doesn't count: swafford, toney, pickett, williams, arnold, juin, sumerhill and others that would be considered walkons.

still need to lose 3 players to get to the signing class of 30 for 2014.

I am sure this won't be a problem.

This is a good decision, he has never seen the field and I don't think he ever would. I honestly think we are on some big time talent and the coaches are having serious discussions with kids who need to make tough decisions regarding their futures.

It was an injury problem, not a talent problem

Don't forget the Junior's who may leave early for the Draft, Tiny very likely, AJ small chance. So 1 more spot.

The scholly's that where give to few of the walkons, Brodus, Carter and Drummer can they be taken back ?
