Kaela Davis

I have no problem with sharing information, especially from reliable sources, however Deerpark basically said my information was totally indiotic and had no base for being said. Keep your sources, don't expect someone not to rebut your baseless info.. Once again, I just want to know what was said and my curosity will be satisfied.

PBV, from the outside looking in, it's a reasonable observation to make that her family is made up of good people. However, it is simply incorrect. Her parents are bat-s*** insane and are the engine that drives the proverbial recruiting train.

DP is 100% correct. The events associated with Kaela's recruitment have hurt Pat very much and in the process Kaela was hurt as well (not by UT's side).

I will close in saying Kaela is a terrific kid and deserves none of this. She deserves to live out her dream, and her dream is to be a Lady Vol. Sadly, that dream is not going to be able to come true for her.

Nobody ever mentioned "getting back" at anyone.

On top of that Pat isn't HC anymore and isn't doing the recruiting.

Here we go again, "from the outside looking in"! You people with all this inside knowledge need to let some of us who are less informed in on what you know. As of right now, I know Pat has recruited a number of wonderful athletes for the University, also I am reasonably sure that not every parent saw eye to eye with Pat on what she had planned for their wonderful daughter. With that said, I don't think Pat is such a insecure person that what someone wants for their little All American will influence her decision on where and when Pat plays this girl. Once again, let me in on what you know!

You can't "insist" that someone let you know something. You sound like a parent scolding a child.

I was trying to respond to your question while being sensitive to those involved. I do not wish to air other people's dirty laundry on here. If you don't want to take what I said at face value, that's fine, but don't come after me because of it.

PBV, I don't know all the facts because I was not a "member" but when I was at the Summitt, this situation was discussed openly in a "private chat" for members only. I will tell you what I know. It is my understanding that KD's parents tried to used her commitment as leverage to get UT coaches to recruit a specific player to come to UT and play with Kayla. When the coaches told them that it was not their call to tell us who or who not to recruit they had Kayla withdraw her commitment. That is all I know. I don't know names or anything else. They got pretty nasty with Pat from what I heard. This is second hand info so forgive my vagueness.

It was unfortunate that something happened because she said she was strong on her commit even if Pat wouldn't be there any longer. :frown:

Thanks LadyVols1, I thought this is what had happened. The fact that Draya is now enrolled and they are best friends would have some impact on Kayla makes me only more hopeful that she would decide on the Lady Vols. See Deerpark, that wasn't so hard!!!

No player (or player's parents, in this case) will ever be bigger than the UT program. It amazes me what people think they can get away with in this day in age.

I can assure you Kaela will not end up at a program that is big enough for her talent. Wherever she goes she will be THE TOP player. No top coach will put up with her parents telling them who they can and cannot recuit. Her parents have ruined her college experience before it's even started.

I personally think she will end up at UGA. I'm betting Andy is desperate enough at this point.

That's not the situation between her parents and the staff I was referring to. They were still willing to take her, as long as the parents understood they didn't run the show. She did not pull her commitment because the staff was unwilling to recruit a friend. What ultimately led to the end of the relationship between the two sides came later.

Kayla Davis will not sign with Tennessee. She is not in contact with the staff. Period.

When kids turn 18 they can go where they want. Lawson more or less told her parents to go pound sand when they tried to keep her from coming to UT and she is a better person for it.

The one thing I would say is that if we aren't recruiting the kid then there is no reason to play "Top Secret" about why she isn't coming here. We had to endure a lot of speculation that it was due to Pat's condition and that Muffet McGraw had put that bee in the Davis family bonnet. That was not fair to either of them and did tons of damage that could have been prevented by just speaking the truth about whatever happened. I could see keeping it quiet if it painted UT in a bad light but I don't see that being the case even with Pat in her deteriorated condition.

She isn't being recruited by Tennessee (or really any other top programs) and she isn't coming here. That's all anybody really needs to know, and that's the only thing that's important to this program at this stage. We are recruiting players that are just as good and/or better than her in some cases. Players that have level-headed parents that aren't jealous of their daughter's peers. It would be nice to focus on them. This is the deepest class since the Parker class and there are many great players out there.

If you want to know what happened, then find out the info for yourself. It's not our job to make the task as easy as possible for you, and, to take a page from Deerpark's book, it's not anybody's obligation to air other people's dirty laundry on a public message board. Don't jump on him just because he's doing what he should be doing. I would suggest finding her parents and asking them yourself but 1.) I'm sure they would lie to you and say she decommitted because of Pat's illness and 2.) if you asked her mother (who wears the pants in the family) she would probably rip your face off for no apparent reason.

i think the coaches are in a wait and see mode with here, but if you think we dont want her or she not being recruited by the top schools, i dont agree with that at all!!
