The Summitt is a terrible board because the monitors don't want any criticism of the basketball team or coaches, even though the program has been slipping noticeably for years--mostly because PS had simply coached too long. On that board she was UT's Joepa, without the scandal, of course. If you didn't genuflect before Pat Summitt every day, and mention how you like to sleep in your PS PJ's with Lady Vol teddy bear, you were suspicious. Criticism of the coaches/program was not appreciated. And so it became a small, bland, lackluster board for diehards living on the program's past glory.

Davis initiated some contact with UT over the summer. The two sides are talking again.

I am surprised no one on here has taken notice that A.J. Davis will be coming on an official visit soon and he is Kaela Davis' brother.

Seeing as how "Kaela Davis" is the title of the thread, I don't think there was any other Davis out there. I certainly wasn't talking about one.

may be the title of the thread, but post #81 Misty asks about Nina Davis and the following threads get a bit confusing as to which Davis is being referred to, so indeed there was another out there

I hope so too, but with the amount of nasty comments thrown about on the summitt about her mother, by posters who claimed to know her (yeah right) it would be a miracle. I do hope she does what she wants.

I've got a good feeling about it and I really don't think a recruit would base a decision off of message board chatter, or at least I hope not. Russell and Davis would be a great combo to get and with the #1 fans TN enjoys they would both love it.

GO LADY VOLS!!!

They were accurate. And, to be honest, warranted.

As I feel my point was just proven, how anyone could defend accusations about a teenage girls mother, where someone claimed to personally know said parent solely based on Reality TV and some run ins with road rage and rude fans, as reported in the press as knowing someone or judging their character. I guess if you call barring false witness and warranted and accurate then we have a different understanding of right and wrong. Maybe a parent did get out of line with a member of the press, who probably should have used better discretion than to ear it out in public, and maybe they are very protective of their childs future, no one, who doesn't live in that house should question anyones parenting skills- period, not warranted, maybe accurate, but not nice to sling mud, low class and not deserved by a child.

"but not nice to sling mud, low class and not deserved by a child."

Which surely is the point of this whole thread.

I will confess that I haven't been following this whole story very closely, but it does appear that one way of describing it is that there's some drama involved.

This drama might be legit, or it might be (somewhat) blown up, but the fact is that whenever drama is interjected into discussions or negotiations, it puts people off, and they start taking sides.

Meanwhile, you have official and semi-official people like Deer Park who try to give us some insider knowledge, without throwing the recruits under the bus. I applaud him for getting the message (move on, there's nothing here to see, it ain't gonna happen) to the fan base without unnecessarily airing dirty laundry.

I've had kids go through the NCAA recruiting mill, and we've learned a lot. I only wish that there had been more people like DeerPark involved.

On the other hand, we did learn a lot. :)

Meanwhile, my best wishes to Kaela and others like her, who have God-given talent, but who have to muddle through the realities of NCAA recruiting, and the occasional attacks of parental ego as well.

Because, based on my personal first-hand experience, those accusations had a lot of truth to them. Period.

Certainly, I wish all posters had taken the higher road and just moved on, as the UT staff did. But we live in a culture of "Why?" and many just wouldn't let go.

The high road taken by the UT staff of "Call us if you want to get back in touch, otherwise good luck" is what ultimately let her to open things back up with UT.

Interesting your wording is now A lot of truth, when it was warranted and accurate. You very well might know about the recruitment first hand, however unless you are a member of the Davis family the horrible accusations I was speaking of, could not be known first hand, as they happened in other States over a number of years, and with 2 or 3 people present. I agree with you that people should have kept their mouths shut, which is what I was saying from the start, and I agree UT took a profession approach, that was never in doubt in my opinion. I commented on damage possibly done by rumours of "fans" I was not thinking of anything you said or wrote. I had quite a few others in mind, and I agree they were out of line, which I believe is what I stated all along. It seems you have come around from your warranted and accurate statement, to a more politically and accurate position of a lot of truth (leaving room for not totally, which makes it wrong to spread stories) and some acted less than professional (not UT) which would put us in total agreement, except I have no personal knowledge of any of the mud that was thrown, or do I claim too, nor would I have aired it if I did, or bothered to call it "warranted and accurate"
