Kamal Hadden Appreciation Post

The people that bring up the hip bump play never critique the front seven and safety failing to make the play. They instead blame the cornerback in pursuit on the play (who should have been in pursuit with a lower pad level). It really shows who understands the game versus those who react to what sensationally makes sense.
I'm going to strongly disagree with that. I have a friend who back in the day was on the Ole Miss staff and since then has been a lifetime HS coach. He said he would actually permanently bench Hadden and I respect his opinion.

Anyone with eyes could see Hadden was not the only screw up on the play, but it was the total lack of effort by him that is .... VERY RIGHTLY ... criticized.

I don't know what your credentials are that you want to spout about "who understands the game" but I'll take my buddy's critique over yours ANY DAY. He was actually one of Trey Smith's coaches, though he is a defensive coach. With a handle like "depressed fan" I kind of doubt you are an NFL scout. 😎

Edit: for the record, my friend was being very emotional during and right after the Florida game, and I took it with a grain of salt that he would permanently bench Hadden. Regardless, I should make clear that *I* don't think he should be permanently benched. However I am all in favor of shaming him pubically and particularly in the film room so that he never repeats such an embarassing pay

So let's just listen to your "very emotional" buddy?

Look that was the worst attempted tackle that I've ever seen, but the stats in the OP don't lie, through 5 games, he's been an All-SEC cover corner.

It's funny to me that so much of the dislike for Hadden is from one play against FL lol. Need to look at the many more positive things he has done. Great post!

That’s false. Nearly everyone acknowledged it shouldn’t have gotten to Hadden.
But it did and anyone not acknowledging that her deserves every bit of criticism he received on that play , is ignorant .

Overall he’s improved and has been pretty good so far.
Are you sure Haden wasn’t setting on the right route and the receiver ran the wrong route? Spenser is short so he’ll throw to a spot sometimes because he can’t see

I think hadden is pretty good overall. I’ve noticed a positive difference in his ability to turn his head for the football, and I don’t believe I’ve seen him get beat as many times as last year. I also do not recall seeing him running his mouth as much as he did last year. His tackling is not good, but that’s about the only knock on him I have. He’s become a good player and if he can commit to wrapping up, he will have opportunities to have a career beyond college in this game.

We also need to him him credit for getting our team back on track after the Bru injury. Our guys and fans were about as excited as a spring game until his pick six.

So 1 play, despite all the good he has done? Why are you even a fan
It Wasn’t just one play, it was the culmination of his body of work up to that play but that particular play was the one that broke the camels back for me. I’m not a fan of Hadden but I would never boo him either.

This has nothing to do with what I posted but I assume you’re talking about the interception Saturday.
To answer you. Don’t know, Don’t care I’ll take the interception either way

Nice edit…. because any College Coach who would permanently sit a player for 1 bad play probably ends up Coaching HS

Still deserves the criticism for the "non tackle" is my point

Ok then. Are the Coaches fair game, since they are responsible for the players being sound and ready? A new to the sport Friend wants to know.
Coaches are permitted to be boo’ed when they don’t go for it in 4th down…..or course they are to be immediately cheered if they change their mind and go for it

I understand that the attempt he made to tackle the guy with the ball was absolutely embarrassing. Regardless of what others should or should not have done, he could have ended the play right there but made one of the worst tackling attempts I have seen in a while.

This thread reminds me of how grateful I am that my work performance is not broadcast live for everyone to see.
I'm perfect 99.993% of the time but that 0.007% would be all people are talking about.

Wow! Those are some pretty impressive numbers. I guess we are all thinking about that really bad missed tackle in the Florida game. But it is great that he is playing really well.
The Florida game can't be blamed on one person the whole team sucked that day except Bru.

Last year during the SC game he was the only player I remember showing any fire, it showed he cares about wining. I love the emotion he brought to the game even if he didn't play well. At least he showed some fire.

I never said that Hadden did what he was supposed to on that play - you are wrongly assuming that is what I think. He should have been in pursuit with a much lower pad level and anticipating on aiding the tackle. If the front seven and the safety took care of business, Hadden would have never had the opportunity for his "bump tackle".

You do not need to be an NFL scout to understand defensive strategy for stopping the run in football. What a ridiculous qualification for listening to and understanding reason! How should I structure my argument? "I have a professional certification in football defensive philosophy and a PhD from Football University. According to my expert opinion, ..." Lol!!

As for "Depressed Fan" being my handle, my handle could be "PinkElephants420", and it wouldn't matter. The content of my messages are unaffected by my handle. Most of your criticism is directed towards diminishing me instead of analyzing the play. You seem to have a lot of appeal to authority in your thought processes from what I have read. You should probably be aware of that.

I'm sure your friend is very knowledgeable about the game, and I am sure you are a very decent person yourself. I think the front seven and our safety should receive far more criticism than Hadden. If you disagree, you are free to do so.

The defense failed as a whole. Hadden is our 4th line of defense for stopping the run on that side of the field. We have three more layers of failure before we should be critical of Hadden. Our linebackers should definitely get more flak than Hadden.

I noticed Hadden with tight coverage on Legette for much of the game Saturday night. It’s good to see his improved play and less jawing. If he keeps it up he might be playing on Sundays.

He does very well when he turns and looks for the ball. Gotta give him some props, He has improved a bunch.
He was never bad as people claim in the first place smh. I think the narrative on him was a run away train of people that don't really understand what their looking at anyway.

The missed tackle(bump) against Florida did me in on Haden. Complete lack of effort.
Did u feel that way about the other 10 guys on the field for that play?? Because I was wondering where the hell were the LB's & Saftey on that play.
