Kamal Hadden Appreciation Post

Don't believe in booing a college kid. he is definitely having a good year. I'm sure most of this is his past antics and the shoulder bumps against Florida. I must admit I've been watching him intensively since that incident. Congrats on the pick six and best way to shake this, is to play lights out, make it to where no one will believe anyone who talks about how crappy you are. besides, don't let anything us life long vols fans say bother you. Just ball out young man, just ball out. and please, don't become poison, we saw the result last year against SC. ( not you, but you know the deal)

I never said that Hadden did what he was supposed to on that play - you are wrongly assuming that is what I think. He should have been in pursuit with a much lower pad level and anticipating on aiding the tackle. If the front seven and the safety took care of business, Hadden would have never had the opportunity for his "bump tackle".

You do not need to be an NFL scout to understand defensive strategy for stopping the run in football. What a ridiculous qualification for listening to and understanding reason! How should I structure my argument? "I have a professional certification in football defensive philosophy and a PhD from Football University. According to my expert opinion, ..." Lol!!

As for "Depressed Fan" being my handle, my handle could be "PinkElephants420", and it wouldn't matter. The content of my messages are unaffected by my handle. Most of your criticism is directed towards diminishing me instead of analyzing the play. You seem to have a lot of appeal to authority in your thought processes from what I have read. You should probably be aware of that.

I'm sure your friend is very knowledgeable about the game, and I am sure you are a very decent person yourself. I think the front seven and our safety should receive far more criticism than Hadden. If you disagree, you are free to do so.
Appeal to authority? You are the one who originally stated that those criticizing the tackle by Hadden "don't understand football". I was just pushing back. I think people who understand football ABSOLUTELY will criticize that tackle and rightfully so.

But it seems you have changed your tune, so I suppose all is well....

Seems as if the other coaches target Hadden alot, that usually indicates they see weakness, I think he's terrible, not sure why he's getting all this love, that pick six is the only good play I can remember him being part of and it was thrown right at him.

Hadden redeemed himself with the pick-6. Legette is the most productive WR in the SEC (also the fastest) and he did pretty well against him.

He's a great talent and has had his hands on several balls that should've been picks. If he continues his pace he will almost certainly walk away from Knoxville a millionaire.

He's been a liability due to his antics. Crazy athletic. NFL doesn't care about his antics, he's good so long as he doesn't beat any women.

Love that...I think the frustration comes from his antics last year vs SC and then two PI calls because he didn't get his head around vs Virginia and the shoulder nudge vs Florida. BUT...he has played great since then and the pick 6 was a game changer. I hope Volnation redeems itself and when he is announced vs A&M he gets a huge ovation.

USCjr didn't target very much.

Legette had around 50 yards in the game and 32 of it was on a fake punt reception. I'd say Hadden did a dam good job.

Ive had my issues with some of his antics, but booing him in the stadium is tacky AF.

I hope anyone going to the aTm game makes it a point to cheer and cheer loudly when he's announced before the game.

Austin Peay sure did, I don't know the stat, I looked, can't find it but I'd love to see the comparison of targets for him and for Jeudy Lally
He’s been targeted twice as much as Jeudy-Lally and given up half the yards lol

It “seems “ that way because he and Slaughter seem to be the only ones the coaches trust to man up. And as much as I really like him Slaughter has been beaten just as much

Those PIs shouldn’t have been called. Not catchable. The UF tackle thing is the one big criticism I have. However if I had been his coach it would’ve gotten him benched

Where did you find this info?
PFF, but I admit I was a bit off with the numbers.

Hadden: 26 targets, 10 catches, 64 yards, 2.5 YPA
Jeudy-Lally: 21 targets, 16 catches, 170 yards, 8.1 YPA

Opposing coaches might think they can pick on Hadden, but obviously it hasn't worked for them yet.

Fun stat: Opposing QB's have at least an 80 NFL QB Rating against every defender that's played 100+ snaps in coverage for us. Everyone except Hadden, that is, who's allowed a 14.6.

This year: 10 catches allowed on 26 targets / 38% completion percentage / 2.46 YPA / 2 INT (1 pick-six) / 0 TD / 5 PBU / 14.6 NFL QBR. Only 2 PI calls and both were against Austin Peay. Pretend those are 15 yard catches and you've got 12/26 for 3.6 YPA.

That's dominant, and if it's not apparent just how dominant, how would y'all feel if Milton had a game where he went 10/26 for 64 yards, 0 TDs, and 2 INTs with a pick six and a 14.6 QBR. How many would say, "Well Milton got a couple PI calls so it's still a good game" lol.

Among CBs with 20+ targets in the country:
1st in NFL QB Rating allowed
2nd in YPA
3rd in coverage rating (PFF)
8th in completion%

He's #1 in the SEC in every one of those categories.
I'm glad he is improving. That is one thing that we expect from every player. Unfortunately for him, his antics of always calling attention to himself actually backfires and makes all of his mistakes very visible to everyone so we always see when he screws up. That builds reputations (good and bad) and those are hard to live down once they get established. Hey, everyone cheered when he danced with the pick 6 so there is hope for all of us.

Sometimes PI isn’t a bad thing in college. Better to give up 15 yards than 30.

People complain about not turning to look for the ball but he is being coached to play the receivers hands. TN is not the only staff coaching that either. It’s becoming common even at places like UGA.
No it’s not. It’s a trust thing when coaches tell you to play the hands and eyes of the receiver…
