Kara Lawson at the Lady Vol's Head Coach?

Do you believe that coming on this forum and posting an opinion that our coach is not good enough is level-headed and a way to establish your credibility with the fan base here?

Holly isn't good enough for a NAIA school let alone at Tennessee. Not so sure she is good enough for a high school coach

Given what I've read on this board, I do think it's okay. Like I said, I think the Lady Vols can do better.

Listen...When Calhoun retired, he hand-picked Ollie as his replacement. He was given a 6 month contract. I'm all about a legend choosing their replacement, but their replacement has to perform to the caliber of the program. Ollie has done so...Holly not so much.

I personally want to thank you for your post, UCONN fan. Given the numerous "oust Holly" threads in this forum, your inquiry and remarks are not at all inappropriate. In fact, I deem your post to be quite complimentary in terms of the the Lady Vols' tradition. And you are so spot on correct! The best thing in the world for women's basketball would be a clashing of our two teams in the Final Four each and every year. As far as your Lawson inquiry is concerned, my wife and I have been discussing that very possibility for at least a year now. To us, she seems to have the complete package.

Finally, please don't let the few run you off. Most of us here welcome fans from other teams as long as they engage in decent and respectful dialogue. So far, you are doing really great.

Your opinion is noted and some here may actually care what you believe but not me. What type of reception did you think you would get when you start a thread in a Lady Vol forum basically saying our coach is not good enough in your opinion? Wait....don't answer that because you will make this post exist a lot longer than it should.

OP speaks the truth.

I think the last thing this program needs is someone who's never coached and is learning on the job.

no, the last thing this program needed was someone who never coached and "didn't" learn on the job. after so many years under a hall of fame coach, Holly should've learned something.

Also what's Gwen Jackson doing these days lets get her on board I think the girls can learn a lot from her tenacity, confidence, and consistency on top of skills lol. I think Shyra,Sid,Shanna,Fluker and or Anosike would be a great fit as an assistant coach.. I'm not saying right off get rid of Kyra, I like her, her public speaking skills are way better than Holly's

I am perfectly okay with dialogue. It's what makes sports forums so interesting. I was just wanting to know if Lawson was vetted or if you think she could become a future candidate.

I can't stand UCONN and some of their fans are just plain jerks, but then you have fans like yourself that just want to have an honest discussion about WCBB. I welcome you and any UCONN fan who wants to have an honest debate or discussion about WCBB.

As far as Lawson being a head coach, she seems like she has the tools to be a good coach. I met her twice and one time I met her she talked to me and my grandfather for a few minutes after I practice I believe it was. Another time, I think it was after a game with Auburn, she just walked right past us and other fans with her nose stuck up like no one else existed. I think she had a bad game or something. I've met quite a few lady vols and her and Holdsclaw are the only two who came across as really snotty, especially Holdsclaw. My favorite though and nicest I've ever met is shanna zolman..If you are reading this shanna, my grandfather adored you..thanks for being so nice to him..

I still support Holly as coach though..I hope she can get things turned around..

UCONN fan is just telling the truth. There is no rule about a fan of another school posting in these message boards. He/She had said nothing inflammatory or derogatory. In fact, had made many valid points and shown a good knowledge of the game.

There is many vol fans that don't like hearing the truth regardless of what sport it is.

They enjoy living in their fantasy world's where everything is fantastic instead of admitting that there are many problems going on right now including one walking the sideline posing as a basketball coach.

Don't worry about it.Some people on here defend Holly, never mind the facts of her coaching ability. Let the season speak for itself.

It may be the truth in your opinion but not mine so I'll agree to disagree.

For all of you Lady Vol fans being critical of the UCONN fan for pointing out WHAT IS PAINFULLY OBVIOUS to anyone who knows basketball, I think it's time you come up for air from mom's basement. What a bunch of childish embarassments you are to this forum and our fan base. The OP was tactful, respectful, and complimentary of our program....and you acted like uneducated, immature and classless idiots. NOW...with that being said....

I think that Kara would make a GREAT coach. She has name recognition. All recruits see her on ESPN all the time so making connections would be easy. She is bright, personable and intense. I have known Kara personally since she was in high school and have always hoped she would make her way to the sidelines on Rocky Top.

In case you hadn't noticed....our current coach is NOT getting the job done. Our program is falling at a record pace and I am not pleased. We need change and we need it fast before we become irrelevant. It was one thing to be passed by UCONN...but we are getting passed by way too many other programs.

This could just be a curse brought on by separating themselves by being the only group to retain the Lady Vol moniker.

How long should we leave her alone. It has very little to do with injuries against less than average teams. I was at the first two games and she had 10 girls that she used, and the bottom line is she can't coach. How far should our program be allowed to drop before Holly lovers realize it has nothing to do with how you feel about her, she is not the answer for the Lady Vols. She will come back to Knoxville with 2 straight losses and it won't even be close. We will probably be out of the top 25. Watch the game and see how confused the team looks. How many interviews have you heard her in and her answer (as she is always scratching her head) is I don't have the answer. We better be finding one before it takes years to bring us back. No recruits are signed for 2016. I think that should tell you something.

anyone think, just maybe, once, for a season, maybe recruited someone, I don't know, but any type of coaching experience might be of importance here? Not sure, but maybe the author of this thread is a Ben Carson supporter too!

Tennessee as a regular in the Final Four is what is best for WCBB. I apologize if I offended Lady Vol fans, but I don't think Holly is the one to get you back there. I find Lawson so impressive and admirable. I was sincerely wondering if any attempt had been made or if you guys think Kara could be a potential candidate. Love me some Kara (just don't tell my UCONN friends :pinch: )...

I think we all like Kara but we need a proven experienced coach with the right motivation, people skills, recruiting, and of course great coaching skills. Sadly, Holly is not it.:shakehead:

If anybody could go straight into a major head coaching position, with no prior coaching experience, it's Kara.

She's extremely intelligent.
She really knows the game.
She has a warm, easy manner and personality.
Good sense of humor.
Husband that supports her career.
And, she loves the University of Tennessee.

I've read this board for a while and just recently decided to finally join. Again, I will state that I'm not trying to troll your fanbase. I can't wait to play the Lady Vols again in the Final Four. I simply think you can do much better than what Holly has done. As a premiere basketball program, you guys deserve better. I'm trying not to get banned and just provide some observation from a non-fan.
The sad fact is that a lot of LV fans agree with several things you have posted.
