Kavanaugh Confirmation

Sorry. That wasn't an accusation, and I wasn't arguing with you. I just felt the need to clarify that (each of us aside), it's not a matter of being jaded or gullible. It's a matter of fact that to accept her as a victim on emotional values, with no evidence, is to convict him and ruin his life on emotional values, with no evidence.

People give her the benefit of the doubt, thinking it makes them good people when it actually makes them heartless monsters. And that's one huge problem with today's relative, emotion-based morality. People do things thinking because it's socially acceptable, and the right emotional "look" when it's actually unscrupulous trash.
I am far from a heartless monster.

Thank you. I think people can do things they don't remember (and maybe would never do sober) when they drink too much. I just think there is doubt on both sides, and so I just would be better safe than sorry, but that is me.. I read what all you say, and if I was a politician, I would always be one of those annoying people like Flake, Collins etc. that don't always go with party lines. I actually admire those people and wish we could get our Congress/Senate back to where more had an open mind.

Like Orange Crush is pointing out, the problem is that you initially used the therapy notes as evidence indicating that she is believable. However, no one knows what is in those therapy notes because SHE will not release them. Personally, I take her lack of release of the notes as evidence that her story should not be believed. I believe the notes (1) describe an assault; (2) the Washington Post used that as corroboration to run their story; (3) the notes do not actually align with her current allegations and instead provide actual evidence that it was not Judge K that committed the assault described in the notes; and (4) they cannot release the notes because of #3.

My evidence for these beliefs: Even without turning over the notes, there are discrepancies between the Washington Post story and Dr. Ford's later testimony as explained in Christine Blasey Ford's changing Kavanaugh assault story leaves her short on credibility

The stance you have taken on this isn't demonstrating an open mind. It's demonstrating a willingness to follow the crowd.

I think the democrats will lose seats in the midterm. I don't think that'll change. But, I also think the worst thing to happen for the democrats is for Kavanaugh to not be confirmed. Because if hes not confirmed, I think the Republicans will take a page out of the democrats playbook and play hardball. Then the rapture will spare us from this mess. let's get that Jewish church to Jerusalem and let's ride.

Ive seen this idea pushed by some. What would you be sorry about?
Has this accusation had a negative impact on his ability to do this job or any of the previous and current positions that he has held? Theres a reason the left is talking about beer, yearbooks and demeanor (after being accused of a deplorable crime) and not the last 25 years of his career.

To Flake and the other handful that will determine this end, make sure you add into that idea how politics work at this level. Many a vote has been placed with their careers (both sides) in mind and not the general public's well being at the forefront.

I don't think you're as far away as you think. You are socially convicting a man of attempted rape, promoting the destruction of his and his family's lives, based on no credible evidence whatsoever. What would you call that?

If you read a story from the 50s and a white woman accused a black man of trying to rape her, and on that alone with no trial or evidence whatsoever, just uncorroborated accusations, the neighborhood got together and lynched him, what would you call it? You'd think it was a proper #metoo emotion? Or you'd think them a bunch of heartless monsters and that that society desperately needed to be fixed?

"Just playin' it safe"?

Thinking that myself. I've never witnessed anyone intentionally cutting their own throat before.
Well, now you've seen it. My progressive co workers were lamenting how any independent could vote democratic now was lost. I just sat quietly..

we can also mention Emmet Till who was accused of things that the now accuser has said she lied about. They lynched, mutilated and shot him in the head for him to be found in the river. He wasnt allowed to defend himself but this witnessless accusation cost him his life because a woman lied about the events. YES it happens and NO a mere accusation is not enough.

I thinks the dems take the House by a narrow margin, the Rs keep the Senate and may even gain seats. This Kavanaugh circus has been the worst possible outcome for the dems
