Kavanaugh Confirmation

Apparently in his entire senate career, Manchin’s final vote has never differed from his cloture vote.
So if the vote holds to what was cast today. Pence would be the deciding vote based on (Daine?) not being able to attend as of right now due to his daughter getting married.

The vote can be held until he gets back to cast his vote later that afternoon.

According to him he plans to vote and vote yes.

No way it comes down to Manchin and he votes to confirm. He will will be allowed to vote yes if there is already enough to confirm OR his vote will not be number 50 or 51 to confirm.

Collins making a 3:00 announcement is not a good sign.

If Kavanaugh doesn't doesn't get confirmed look for another election night surprise. Grab a beer and watch the pundits wonder what the hell just happened.

I don't think you're as far away as you think. You are socially convicting a man of attempted rape, promoting the destruction of his and his family's lives, based on no credible evidence whatsoever. What would you call that?

If you read a story from the 50s and a white woman accused a black man of trying to rape her, and on that alone with no trial or evidence whatsoever, just uncorroborated accusations, the neighborhood got together and lynched him, what would you call it? You'd think it was a proper #metoo emotion? Or you'd think them a bunch of heartless monsters and that that society desperately needed to be fixed?

"Just playin' it safe"?

I should add to this that this example, and any other like it, should effectively end any intellectually honest argument about whether it matters whether this is a trial or not. Whether it matters that "this is just a glorified job interview". Either our country is founded on the presumption of innocence, and the protections (whether social, legal, to life limb and property) are given inside the courtroom as well as outside, or there are no protections at all. If we are not protected by the presumption of innocence outside the courtroom, it doesn't matter in the courtroom--as the public lynchings proved.

The so called experts seem to think he will be confirmed. Usually this vote reflects the confirmation vote. I guess we'll find out soon.

I don't think its unreasonable to expect some sort of proof or corroboration for an allegation for anyone to even start to believe it.

You mean like how the alt right objectively views the claims that the Clintons have had people killed, or the Q stuff based on numbering the alphabet?

Give me an f'ing break. The right's claim that this is all about lack of proof against K rings VERY hollow. The right relies on rumor, echo chamber nonsense, and irrational conspiracy theories every day to justify their politics.

I don't see them voting this morning if there was doubt about the outcome.

Pointing out how dirty someone else is doesn't clean you up, counselor. That's the kind of argument you make when you're out of arguments.

Where's the proof?

Sorry. That wasn't an accusation, and I wasn't arguing with you. I just felt the need to clarify that (each of us aside), it's not a matter of being jaded or gullible. It's a matter of fact that to accept her as a victim on emotional values, with no evidence, is to convict him and ruin his life on emotional values, with no evidence.

People give her the benefit of the doubt, thinking it makes them good people when it actually makes them heartless monsters. And that's one huge problem with today's relative, emotion-based morality. People do things thinking because it's socially acceptable, and the right emotional "look" when it's actually unscrupulous trash.

I didn’t take it as an accusation at all , I try to only speak for myself but I get hung up in the we or them a lot and was just adjusting what I said .

deflection by the intern

He's not getting confirmed. If Murkowski is a no, then you can count on Collins, Flake, or both flipping. Kavanaugh has been Borked.
Sadly you are right, I think its over. No surprise the scumbag fascists left went down this road but those worthless rinos have now encouraged them to continue this bad behavior.
