Kavanaugh Confirmation

They're making a huge deal out of a very moderate SCJ. That should tell you something about the state of the media and Democrat party.

Don't fool yourself, this has never been about Kav. This was an indictment on trump... Kav's experience and qualifications were beyond reproach and the left knew it, the only thing left was to assassinate his character.

Got a chance to watch the Susan Collins speech from yesterday. I had never heard of her outside of watching senate race votes when it's election time and yesterday when they brought her up in this process. Her open-mindedness and approach through this process should be model for how every single one of our elected representatives approaches things in the future. Her speech to me proved that although she is a Republican senator she is very much in the middle, will gather all of the information that is provided and make an informed decision. This is something that is severely lacking on both sides of the aisle and it was very refreshing to hear that there actually are some on the Hill who are willing put their party lines aside, investigate and make an informed decision.

I would pay good money to hear a debate with her and someone on the other side about the alleged positions that BK will take on Roe vs. Wade, abortion and other high profile decisions. The debate should only include evidence from his decisions and writings while he has been on the bench. Hearing the perspectives from both sides I believe would be very enlightening and it would arm the public with the ability to make an informed decision.

Also I saw that the Women's March came out with a pretty hasty comment about Senator Collins right after her speech. I wanted to reserve how I felt about it until I got to see the speech myself. Now that I have heard the speech I am not just skeptical but 100% certain that the Women's March Organization is nothing but a racist hate group. There are some friends of the family that have participated in some of their events, I love them personally and I am hoping that they don't truly understand what they are supporting when they participate.

I think that played a big part in it. The fringe sees it as a step toward R v. W as well which I dont think ever happens.

Nasty business

It's truly a shame that the Democrats have elected to feverishly deny the Trump agenda at every turn possible. I was highly skeptical of Trump when he initially took office, but I was pretty excited to see how well a non-career politician and successful business man would do in that position. The fact that he had never encountered any kind of domestic or foreign policy was kind of scary to me along with his antics and how they were perceived during the election.

What has he done? He has 100% won me over. If you put aside some of this twitter tirades and antics the man's progress in almost 2 years have been nothing short of astounding. The American economy is absolutely booming right now, the stock market is strong, the job growth (although a little short in September) has been incredible and the unemployment rate is down to levels we haven't seen since the 60's. We are starting to get stronger on trade agreements that have been causing an American Manufacturing Depression over the last couple of decades and decimating towns all over America. The US and North Korea are willing to come to the table and start the discussions of peace + denuclearization. We are getting ourselves out of expensive agreements that gained the US nothing while adding to the pockets of others (Iran and Paris Agreements). We are finally willing to step up to our so called "allies" who have been taking advantage of America for the last decade+ and demanding fairness.

All of this is happening with one side of the political forum stating that the man leading the way is Hitler and has us on a path towards a new NAZI regime.

I couldn't even fathom how incredible the results would be if there wasn't a side that was resisting at every turn. Does this mean that you have to like everything? No. Does this mean that you have to support everything? No. Does this mean that we can find some sort of compromise where he have differences and work towards a greater good? Yes.

Our trajectory as a nation would be on an exponential uptick if we all were working towards the same goal.

It have taken 5O years to get control of the courts. If trump would be get reeclected he would have a chance to put 1-2 more on which means the Supreme Court would be Conservative for the next 30-40 years...

I gave you a like for your thoughts on Collins, don't know about the Women's march organization, but probably as hard headed as most of our politicians right now. This country needs some mellow moderates. (and yes, Grand Vol, I'm still riding that Unicorn-- I am still hoping that VOLS win the rest of their games, too-- and Dobbs will get a start and go undefeated for Pittsburgh)

There are extreme views on both sides-- need the court to be even and not turn into what our government has become.

Lol seriously

He has zero respect for the constitution that’s the overall flaw in our democracy we allow power hungry politicians to elect the judges who are supposed to keep their power in check

Sorry for the lack of punctuation iPhone is being weird

We live in a republic not a democracy. Supreme Court justices are nominated and appointed not elected. Open your civics book and let the adults talk.

Trumps policies are not bad at all..most people just take issue to him personally and the way he acts and I get that. But the left takes their Trump hate to such an extreme level one cant wonder if they actually do hate America.

Hey, I'm all for moderates on both sides playing adult and compromising. I'm also a realist and recognize it won't happen.

Conservatives will easily go back to being conservative if the Ds can find some some moderates and pull back to the center(ish) i believe . By nature and definition Rs are conservative but they have found a backbone I’m guessing with Trump telling them to stop being so soft and stand up . I really think it’s a reaction to Ds going so hard to the left . The closer both stay to the center the better off everybody is but it will take the left coming back before it gets anywhere close to being able to work together in a significant way . I’m my opinion , regardless of what some think , this country is nowhere near willing to go more toward socialism and the harder it’s pushed the most backbone the R’s , I’s, and some moderate D’s will find and get out to vote against it .
