KC was the only person who came to play

Have to develop these big men to be scorers. Can’t depend on your guards to carry the offense.

Uros had a great game. James a good first half.

We weren’t getting good looks from 3, and probably didn’t go down low as much as we should have.

The D got abused.
There were quite a few looks from beyond the arc that were wide open JJJ amd ZZ both had a couple they just couldnt knock down like they usually do

No, we were underseeded. It’s a résumé based process. What we do afterwards does not matter. Had we been seeded properly we don’t have to play Michigan in Indy in the second round

Michigan was a 14 loss 11 seed. We were just embarrassing dogs hit like usually in the post season.

It hurts to the bone, but history has shown us that this is what to expect with our current coach.

Disappointing but expected. No, I do not want a new coach, but we should not expect to go further than 2nd round every year.

Until we stop relying on the 3-ball, this is our plateau.

Uros played well but we really needed vescovi to play better
What we really needed was Fulky to have regained the magic he had during the conference games 2 years ago. Covid or something else really made him a shell of the player he had become. Bailey even more so than Fulkerson. Don’t recall veteran players regressing so much.

I thought our defense was nowhere close to normal. Michigan's best player Dickinson was often left wide open when our big guys went to help up high on Michigan guards. Do not understand why we continued to do this most of the game. I'm truly not just saying this because we lost, but I really think our defensive game plan was sub par. And also give Michigan credit. They often face guarded and covered Santiago like he's not been covered all year. I give the Michigan Coaches credit. I thought they were much better tonight. They had a much better game plan than we did.
It wasn’t just the scheme on D. Our guys were often flat footed and our rotations were slightly slow. Scheme-wise it took way too long to adjust to their big man killing us.

I think we played the screens the same all season but we haven’t faced another 7 footer who wanted to shoot the 3 and made 3 out of 4. CRB said in the post game they preferred Dickinson shoot from outside instead of trying to defend him in the post. Who would have thought he would shoot 75% from 3. There were probably 150 guards shooting 3’s in this tourney that didn’t shoot 75% but it’s just our luck to have a 7’-1” dude hit at that rate. It does seem like we’re cursed some times

Terrible take

Sometimes the facts hurt. Not a "terrible take". I understand. You just don't like to hear it.

Last 4 times Vols have gone to NCAAT, we have lost 3 times in first or second round to a team seeded worse than us.

75% of the time - that's a pretty high rate.

So give me your rundown on who we should hire to remedy that?

Did I say we need a coaching change?

We just need to accept what we have.

P.S. - in Barnes last 10 NCAAT appearances, he has been upset by a lower seed 9 times.

It is what it is. Just have to accept it. Fun to watch during the season, good man, great respect for the way he runs his program. Just not good at making proper offensive adjustments at crunch time.

Our guys came to play. Gotta credit Michigan for taking away our 3 point shots. And on top of that we simply couldn't hit the open ones. It was bound to happen. Our guys have been shooting lights out prior to this game. We just didn't have ananswer fir Dickinson.
We did not have the players inside to keep their defense honest. Hopefully, our Freshmen bigs will improve a lot during the off season and we will be able to created some inside offense. No team will hit a high % of their 3s every game. I expect will be a better team next year. We will have a couple of players leave through the portal and likely gain 1 or 2.

The rest of the team was abysmal on offense tell me im wrong
Hadn’t really seen it much this year but thought when chandler got hot the rest of the team started watching for chandler to score instead of looking for their shots too

Come on, we didn’t play zone once in this game. They beat us with dribble drive. Vescovi only had had 5 points but passed up a lot of looks. We played tight. Only player on the floor for us with any hops today- Chandler.
Vescovi can't create his shot and Coach Howard's game plan was to shut him down. Vescovi is a solid player when coming off picks and screens, but to work one on one (like Chandler or ZZ) against an athletic guard is to his disadvantage.

Goes to recruiting. Barnes has tried to get Quality BIGs, but missed out. We can only hope this Staff has someone coming or perhaps Barnes will rethink his stance on taking players from the Transfer Portal. Aidoo & BHH will be good, but this team still needs a dominate Wing shooter.

The game plan was also to push and shove and keep doing it as long as the refs allowed it. TN couldn’t perform well when that is how the games are called. Good move by Howard. I don’t know what TN could have done differently to have dealt with the officiating philosophy of the day.

At least the refs were consistent for 40 minutes instead of doing a 180 in the second half which they were doing a lot of in previous seasons. Too bad it isn’t universal rules interpretations in the NCAA. Instead it is like an umpire’s strike zone and TN usually gets into deep foul trouble when trying to play the highly physical games. I guess Uros should have gotten into a fight with their 7’1” freak if he could have managed to get BOTH tossed out.
