Sure Holly started with a roster she helped recruit as Summitt was fading away. Can’t deny what she did following the legacy of the legend in her first few years. She was coaching the final two years of Pats career so to say the first 4 although is truthful is leaving out what she accomplished while Pat was a shell of herself on the bench. Holly left Jordan and Key, two pretty good anchors to set a foundation for your future. Now their time is almost gone and not much to show. All Kellie had to do was better than Holly and currently we are wondering if a Preseason Top 5 team is going to be a 4 or 5 seed and can they make it to the SS.I take exception to John Adams article today comparing Holly's first four years to Kellie's first four. Holly started with an excellent roster whereas Kellie had to start with what Holly left her. I would compare Holly's last four years to Kellie's followup four years.
Looking at all games her last four years Holly was 86-47, Kellie is at this point 83-37 with chance to add a couple more wins. And this is with the very tough out of conference schedule this year.
Looking only at SEC games, Holly was 36-28, Kellie is 42-18 with chance to add a couple more games. How could you not see this as improvement?
The coaching change was made because the program was going down hill. Kellie has reversed the trend I would say. Holly's first three years were very good. The last four were not. I think Kellie's record shows a positive trend and does not deserve to be labelled mediocrity.
So based on what you said about Holly, should a change be made?Kellie has a chance for more wins, but also has a chance for two more losses.
* For comparison purposes, both were fired from their first P5 heading jobs. Would be easier to compare NC State first 4 and Holly’s first 4 at Tennessee
