No they were terrible. Look at their records. What I am saying is we are at least relevant and competitive. Especially since being in the playoff HUNT 2 out of last 3 years. Some think you should never lose. At the end of every season only 1 or 2 teams are undefeatedI mean you almost certainly blamed the fans when anyone criticized those guys as well.
They were terrible and I’d guarantee you defended them like your family’s lives depended on it.No they were terrible. Look at their records. Kodi Burns is a good one.People forget that all these receivers turned a corner and Tillman put together a really great season when Kodi Burns was our wide receiver coach. He went to the saints after the '21 season and just got fired along with Dennis Allen and 3 other assistants. I think the saints problem was all quarterback and offensive line, not receivers. Maybe we should run it back with him. Our receivers sure were a lot better when he was in the building.
Actually, one only has to look through recent history glasses and know that "fans" calling for firings right now are being ridiculous.Anyone who doesn't look at certain coaches and think "wow, we could be better" are only looking at things through Vol-tinted glasses. Halzle, Elarbee, Martinez, and Pope are all issues that should be addressed.
That resume doesn’t exactly jump out at you does it? I’m in agreement with youif you look at Pope's history...the only prolific passing team he has ever been a part of was the 2022 volunteers in his first year as wide receivers coach when he was gifted a biletnikof level talent by his predecessor and one of the best passers in Tennessee history was under center. His other results are not encouraging.
2018-19 Shorter University, Asst Wide Receiver Coach: 187 passing yds per game. Leading receiver 388 yards and 3 tds
2019-20 Tennessee Tech, Wide receiver Coach: 238 passing yds per game. Leading receiver 629 yds 3 tds.
2020-21 Gardner Webb*, passing game coordinator: 178.5 passing yds per game. Leading receiver 267 yds 2 tds.
2021-22 -Tennessee offensive analyst-
22-23 Tennesse wide receivers coach: 326 yds per game. Leading receiver (Jalin Hyatt) 15 tds
23-24 Tennessee: 243 passing yds per game. Leading receiver: Squirrel White, 803
