As long as the players love the hire, that is what ultimately counts.
What was it Gen. Patton responded in the movie when ask how he could ask so much of his soldiers? (paraphrased) My men are soldiers they will do as I say do. (as if to say love ant got nothing to do with it)

Yeah I'm sure some teams will mention it, some won't but I just don't think it's a factor for players now like how it may have been in the past.
Unless the average highly ranked high school senior athlete is a whole lot more worldly than the average high school senior, many would be easy to sway with sanction talk. As it had always been, you can convince many of them of anything.

Guys in Nico class have "agents" in their ear. Take that money baby, if things don't work out we can go some place else and start right way, you're Nico baby. You'll be in the NFL by the time the NCAA makes up their minds.
TN already self imposed the same penalties the NCAA would have and the NCAA would look stupid trying to do so when Congress is looking at them for unfair practices and punishments.

You guys need to get over yall VBS and living in the past.
The NCAA doesn't have the teeth it used to

thats not the point. He said its a big deal because EVERY team out there is using these supposed sanctions against us. I simply asked for proof. Show me where EVERY team is telling recruits that

It’s called Recruiting 101. It won’t be a quote in the newspaper but it’s being told to recruits regularly. Every school does it.

He's excited. I suppose he has a lot of positive to look to, as do the receivers. If you're a receiver you'd want to play in this offense, wouldn't you? Sure you would.

It’s sales. Kids aren’t generally worldly or astute, and they’re more susceptible to a great salesman than the average adult. The fewer objections a great salesman has to deal with, the more effective he will be. Understanding UT brings some objections due to possible sanctions doesn’t mean the coaches shouldn’t be able to recruit well, but it recognizes the reality the have to do it a little better with some kids.

In short, if a recruit makes a pro and con list for each school he’s considering “possible sanctions” goes in the con column. Every program has pros and cons. Best part of this one is severity is uncertain and probably leads to nothing AND it eventually goes away entirely.

As we wonder about the open Offensive Coordinator position, I thought we could take some encouragement from Heupel's previous staff decisions:

I bumped this thread from last February-March when we'd lost excellent receivers coach Kodi Burns to the NFL, and were all wondering what was going to happen. A month later, we were wondering how promoting from within was going to work out.

Do we have some consensus on the job Kelsey Pope did coaching our receivers this season? I think our hands were in good hands.

I’ve been very impressed with his coaching abilities. All of our receivers greatly improved not a shot at Burns it’s two things one being the second year In system, but also the way he connects with the kids and his coaching abilities.

I personally believe he is a rising star. I think he has the chance to be the #2 WR coach behind Hartline at OSU, as our WRs continue to develop and put up numbers in Heups offense, and as Coach Pope continues to network building relationships with HS coaches across country his recruiting abilities will take off.
