Lexington Herald-Reader has a pretty brutal article today. It discusses whether UK can do better than 6-6. What a crash from their dreams of the Playoff.
247 UK Boards are rather pitiful. They generally seem accepting of UK's inevitable return to the SEC football cellar long term. One noticeable post said it's taken Heupel 2 years to bring back UT, Kiffen 3 years to make UK competitive and they are on year 10. (Left out Pittman at Arkansas, who I think has done a helluva' job at a tough place to win.)
One article I read noted that UK was disadvantaged by not having a well-developed NIL structure. WTH are they talking about! UK has had an NIL program dating back to Rupp. Bear Bryant learned it from Rupp and took it to Bama. If you doubt it google "Eddie Sutton" and "overnight delivery."
Went to UT/UK game at Lexington every time we played up there in the 90's. Stayed overnight once and was in a restaurant bar, wearing my orange, when 3-4 young UK fans starting giving me a hard time about BB season coming up.
(If you don't know the story, a package from Sutton's office was overnighted to a recruit and broke open enroute showing several thousand dollars. The delivery services employee contacted police and BOOM. Sutton had used one of the lesser delivery services that didn't survive the 2008 recession.)
So these guys are giving it to me good-naturedly when I turn to them and say "At least we know enough to use Fedex." It killed them. They bought me a drink and we had a great time until my table was ready.
