I’ll never understand why our fans meep repeating this coal mine stuff. Where is the shame in that job? It’s a noble, important, hard working job. Why are we making fun of that? Also, there are coal mines here too.

I live on the cumberland plateau and early 1900s our little town was booming. I am smackdab in between cookeville and crossville. We had hotels and movie theaters all sorts of stuff. And when the pits shut down so did the rest of it. Proud to have had coal miners in my family for sure.

Funny, I didn't hear a peep from the Blue before the game. They knew what was coming. The few around us left very early.

I honestly considered coming to the game but couldn't bring myself to do it because I knew an ass whooping was awaiting us. I couldn't even read or post on here because I knew we were about to annihilated. I'm pretty sure I said last year I'd rather lose 45-0 than 45-42 but damnnnnnnnnn.

Look at the comments these idiots are making about Rodriquez….
Rodriguez?
The one guy who brought it but simply couldn’t replicate last season’s performance. NO TEAM runs straight up the middle against this year’s version. Not even with much…MUCH better OL’s.

My PawPaw prolly worked those. Retired in the 60’s I believe and lived with blacklung into his late 90’s. Is the town Monterey? Our family’s spread was in Fentress County.

I don't insult anyone who goes into those mines. I couldn't do it. Was a great job in the 70's and 80's for blue collar guys, especially with union representation. Much different in wildcat mining and after the deregulation of the Reagan years which wiped out enforcement of the safety protections.

Underground mining is a dying industry now. Banks won't loan to them and insurance companies avoid them. The big pits out west are more economical, but it doesn't mean much long-term with the loss of market. No one wants the coal they produce.

Capitalism can be ruthlessly efficient. Still trying to sell my grandfather's stock in the Tennessee Buggy-Whip Company.

Depends on how it is framed. I agree with you that, because it is such a hardcore profession, it is a job to be proud of.

At the same time "back to the mines" after we beat them is objectively funny.

The Kentucky fans on WLAP 630 this morning couldn't believe Will Levis threw for less than 100 yards while UT-Martin threw for 300+ yards:D
It's almost like we didn't do any prep work for UTM and played walk ons and spent 2 weeks prepping for the Mildcats.

We’ll they were correct about one thing. We haven’t seen a defense like theirs all year— not one that bad anyway.
Scary thing for our remaining opponents is I don’t think their defense, or certainly Alabama’s, is that bad, yet we scored an average of 48 points in these two games leaving points on the field against UK. Their secondary had some busts, sure, but this is still more about how dominant our offense is than it is about deficiencies in our opponent. As a fanbase, we’re still adjusting to the reality that we are going to beat elite teams and dominate good ones. Teams don’t suck because we beat them. We’re just that good.

This game is also a case study in why, if one hypothetically had to choose only one, a good offense trumps a good defense, because a bad offense can bring a good defense down by putting it in difficult situations in terms of field position. We certainly had a lot of scrappy defenses that got hung out to dry by inept offensive play during our years in the wilderness.

I live in monterey
My younger sister lives there. Both my mom and she worked at the chicken processing plant. Older sister lives in Crossville. Most of family hailed from Clarkrange, they’re mostly all gone. My home address of record when I joined the AF, listed Monterey as the city.
