Kentucky - Georgia Game Thread

It only looked rough because Bradley accentuated it it by flopping, as he was supposed to do. How much of a collision can it possibly be when the Georgia player who ran into him was standing in place immediately beforehand?

I think you need to watch it again. He ran him over. He didn't resist falling, but he didn't flop.

How hard can he have "run over him" when he wasn't running to begin with?

It was a play designed to exploit the way that the rules of basketball treat its players like porcelain. It's about as aesthetically pleasing as when a guy drives the lane and deliberately leans over into a defender because he has no shot, and then gets rewarded by getting to shoot two free throws. Yuck. I'm glad it didn't work.

Almost like snapping the ball when the 12th guy on the defense is 1 foot from the sideline and getting a flag?

There are ways to manipulate rules to your advantage in every sport, golf being the worst. That doesn't mean they aren't rules.

Well, that's the thing. The rules in basketball w/r/t charging, blocking, etc. are so arbitrarily applied that they almost stop being hard and fast "rules" that can be manipulated, and start being something more like "whatever the guy with the whistle happens to think at any given time." It's hard for Kentucky to cry about being robbed when it was something that, as even Brando said, you see called about 50 percent of the time. They took a shot at that 50 percent; they didn't get it. Too bad.

Wait, I'm confused... Why would BCG tell him to block the free throw?
He didn't know the rule was changed three years ago. Under the old rule, goaltending the free throw would give you the ball out of bounds, which would be preferable with 1.2 seconds left to letting Georgia intentionally miss the free throw and trying to make a 90 footer at the horn.

Yeah, because the rules on holding and pass interference rules are so consistently applied in football.

All right, that makes sense... That is a pretty big coaching error IMO.

Well, sure. But the inconsistent application of those rules in football typically has a dramatic effect on a handful of plays, whereas the way basketball games are called has a dramatic effect on the ebb and flow of an entire game. When the refs let them play, basketball's fantastic to watch. When they call it like they did the UT-Vandy game a few weeks ago, it's unwatchable. And the way that it frequently oscillates back and forth between the two extremes during the very same game is mystifying to me -- I don't know why the leagues and coaches stand for it.

Wow. UK loses and all the Orange payasos come out to gloat. I thought some of you had more class than that.

UK played like crap, and lost. They deserved to lose by the way that they played.

Good luck in your game tonight. You should coast. After all, we all know that Pearl, Lofton, and company are superior, and anything less than a blowout would be disappointing.

I didn't quite see the gloating that you're talking about, but I guess I'm not a KY fan either.

Bradley played like dog and it got you beat.

maybe you should be more angry with Billy Clyde, Brian.

Not knowing the rule changes from 3 years ago, and hoping for a referee to call a foul on a pick.

Tubby won last night with less time than UK had. :eek:hmy:
