Kentucky lost again

I think that they will come out and fight for a half on Saturday but Tennessee will whip their ass in the second half.

I am very, very concerned about Kentucky putting it together for Tennessee. Their roster has its problems but it's crammed full of talent, and rivalry games are weird. I mean, their fans think they're going to get murdered in Knoxville. I'm not so sure. I believe in Tennessee but I don't think Kentucky is suddenly scrap parts or anything.

I’ve had the same thought all night. You gotta figure tonight was the Cats’ rock bottom, but honestly I think it’s more likely Vandy was our trap game.

we needed that game last night to bring out the competitiveness in the team, coming off a slaughter like SC sometimes makes you lazy

I'm sure the 5* players would much rather have a big NBA contract than winning NCAAT. That is their goal.

If ff happens along the way, that's just gravy. Cal will always get the 5*, regardless of record.

Yes, and they still buy his spiel, despite the results and the blinking neon signs that clearly say this program is not what he’s telling these players it is.
They went 9-16 in 20-21, then Jackson and Boston got drafted and Clarke would have been drafted had he not died. I don't think they're as worried about the team's performance as are the fans.

Is there something about playing at KY that makes a talented 5* more draftable? I would think these players would have been drafted no matter where they played their one year of college ball. JMO

I think the name brand of Kentucky helps, IMO. I mean Kentucky is a pro factory so I think some teams just feel more confident drafting a Kentucky player because the likelihood they pan out seems high. I am speculating completely, but it wouldn’t shock me if Julian Phillips draft stock as a Kentucky player in an alternate universe isn’t a few spots higher than his draft stock as a Tennessee player. Again, pure speculation but I just think the brand has some juice to it that raises the stock of some kids.

Daniel Orton is the poster child for the UK brand meaning something

Your concerns were extremely valid.

I had been saying this all week. Living in Kentucky, their fans had given up long before tip-off.

Yeah, though, it's not as if Kentucky was magically any better today than they have been lately. They had lots of miscue and mistakes - but also 15 more free throws. For whatever reason. *cough*

It felt so obvious that this would happen. Got told so many times I was worried about nothing, but everything before this game setup for a massive letdown. I know we like to laugh at Kentucky when they lose, but them reaching rock bottom 3 days before coming to Knoxville was not what we wanted. Combine that with our guys playing tight, nervous, and outside of themselves and it’s a recipe for a big fat egg.
