Five-star quarterback, Morgan Newton announced this morning that he would be attending the University of Kentucky.

The Carmel High (In.) product was one of Kentucky's top prospects for the class. He picked Kentucky over Clemson, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Purdue and South Carolina. Newton was also receiving late interest from LSU. Newton, who stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 215 pounds, threw for 1900 yards with 25 touchdowns, and ran for 750 yards and 11 touchdowns, is rated
the number 7 quarterback prospect in the nation according to Scout.com.

I think that is a good pick up for Kentucky. It is absolutely critical for Kentucky to hold on to blue chip in-state prospects if they want to continue to rise into relevance.

EDIT: wait, why is this in vols recruiting? UT wasn't recruiting him.

Congrats. Not since the Tim Couch era has Kentucky had the pleasure of surrounding a 5-star quarterback with 2-star offensive linemen and receivers.

Edit: With all due respect to Craig Yeast.

Who's going to protect him, who's he going to throw to and who is he going to hand off to? Good pickup but you guys need much more than QB's.

The other team needs to blitz him a little and see how he handles that. The other team is giving him alot of time back there.

Wait... was he originally from Ky? It says he plays at Carmel, Indiana?

Or did Kentucky annex Indiana? :p :eek:hmy:

that's probably true. Guess that's why your defense was so bad last year that you lost 4 games. All that talent that you're taking from everyone else.

Papa, be rational. We have dominated recruiting recently. We will probably sign less guys and be ranked higher than UT at the end of the year in recruiting.
