The team NC State lost their coveted QB to is Kentucky. I have read he is pretty good. Aside from the fact we own Kentucky for the most part, how does everyone feel about that QB going to Kentucky and about their team in general this year? This writer picks Kentucky to beat Tennessee and yet lose to Florida in Lexington. Interesting.

Personally, I think the Kentucky game will be a fight. Apparently, the OC who had Levis and company creating expectations is returning to Kentucky after one season in the NFL, where he probably learned more.

We all know what happened against South Carolina last year. We all know Spencer Rattler and one of his top receivers are coming back. Still, considering all their losses on D and others, the fact that are playing in Knoxville, they lost their OC and we will be out for blood makes me think we take that one hands down.

Bobby Petrino as OC at A&M? Good gosh, I had no idea. That’s an insane pickup. Glad we have these guys at home!

Not too worried about uk, I don’t feel Leary is as durable as Levis was and it may be difficult for their OC to be as effective for his 2nd stint. Seems coordinators that come back rarely reach the same success but maybe I’ve just paid less attention to the ones that do.

Aside from our own dysfunction, scar was a cornered animal scenario. They may be in a similar situation this year at some point but I highly doubt they find a way to lock in like that on the road.

I also can’t wait to watch the disaster of jimbo and petrino inevitably clashing.

Carolina will be circled. We always say the same thing about Kentucky every year. Being up there will make it interesting until we go up 3 TDs

A&M is the wild card on the entire schedule in the sense that we always seem to catch that one west team on the upswing. They’ll have something to prove this year after being hot garbage last year. JMO

It’s going to take some time, but the days of worrying about Kentucky, South Carolina , etc are coming to an end. Yes, anyone can beat anyone on any given day but that actually isn’t true for the most part. Our forty years in the desert are coming to a close. Time to work on your swagger and put your a$$ whoopin pants on because we are about to reclaim our rightful place in the SEC and all of college football. Go Vols!!!!

A&M had all the motivation in the world this entire offseason and has the talent to back it up on the field; last year’s results have no bearing on this year, other than you have a bunch of 4 and 5 Star players who are pissed off about everyone calling them hot garbage. It would be zero surprise to me if they win the West.

This three game stretch will be the toughest part of the 2023 schedule.

This is just my personal opinion, but I think anyone who spends even a single moment worrying about Kentucky is simply wasting their time.

If you must do it, save your angst for games that offer true potential for doubt. South Carolina and A&M are decent ones to ponder.

Sure, Kentucky will pull off an upset once every 13 years or so (they've won three games in something like 38 years). But it happens so infrequently, it is truly not worth being concerned about. And even more key, it only happens when we have a coach in over his head.*

Simply put: with a decent head coach, we don't lose to them. No sense in worrying about it.

Go Vols!

* those three KY wins in the past 38 years: once while we had Dooley (even he is 2-1 against the Wildcats), once in Butch's final season (the only season in our history that we've lost 8 games), and once with Pruitt at the helm (he too is 2-1 against them). Note: Butch Jones bats .800 against Kentucky as Tennessee's head coach. That's how not scary they are.

When have we ever worried about Kentucky?

Stoops is a mediocre coach.

Wish our fans would stop hyping them up every year.

I was with you until the forty years part. Might want to research the late ‘80’s and early ‘90’s for this team - we won a couple notable games in that period.

Are they hiring a new coach in the next three weeks? If not, they ain’t winning the West.

You’re young, it’s just a “saying, a quote” referring to the Jews long walkabout - The Big Orange had their own walk in the desert recently, from which we have just emerged!

SJT is right; you're clearly young.

One thing you learn with time is this: when someone says something that doesn't quite make sense to you, stop. Don't assume you're smarter than them. They may actually be referring to things you don't know. It's worth researching a bit, seeing if you can figure it out.

Sometimes nothing will come from your research. They were speaking gibberish after all. But sometimes, you'll learn something new.

And here's a perfect test case: google "forty years in the desert" and see if you can make any sense of what the fella was actually saying.

Go Vols!

I completely agree with the assessment but wouldn't underestimate the Bobby/Jimbo marriage dumpster fire potential.

Jimbo views himself as an 'offense guy' so if the new OC (who also certainly wants his job) turns things around it could get ugly in the staff room.

I’m not a Jimbo fan, but you’re saying a coach with a Natty under his belt is incapable of winning with a talented roster?

LSU is vastly overrated and Bama has major issues they’ve never experienced and they just lost the best offensive and best defensive player in the country to the draft.

A&M is by no means the favorite, but it’s not like they have to beat UGA to win the West. It’s a players game and A&M has a very talented roster, that’s why I wouldn’t be surprised if the won the West.

Ego and pride can be terribly destructive and that might be their undoing. Still yet, Jimbo deliberately hired him knowing full well the baggage and personality Bobby brings.

I had a friend who played for him at Arkansas and he said he (and his brother, Paul) are absolute lunatics.

Really can’t take any game for granted regardless of historical success. I think we can beat anyone on our schedule (including Georgia) based on potential, talent level, coaching and experience, but if critical injuries occur or we don’t play up to potential, they are up to 6 games we can lose. Until proven otherwise, can we duplicate last years record offense? Will our pass defense continue to be a huge question mark?

I have read all of the Bible three times. Forty years doesn’t fit the Vols because we didn’t wander for forty years.
