Kentucky, South Carolina & Texas A&M

I’m not a Jimbo fan, but you’re saying a coach with a Natty under his belt is incapable of winning with a talented roster?

LSU is vastly overrated and Bama has major issues they’ve never experienced and they just lost the best offensive and best defensive player in the country to the draft.

A&M is by no means the favorite, but it’s not like they have to beat UGA to win the West. It’s a players game and A&M has a very talented roster, that’s why I wouldn’t be surprised if the won the West.
Saban may not win the natty this year but he sure as hell ain’t losing the division to Dumbo. Saban could outcoach Fisher from the ICU.

I believe we can beat every team on our schedule this year. I think our D will be improved and our Offense won't miss a beat. This team is going to do great things and I hope our opponents think we will be down this year. This is the first time in many years that I don't see an automatic loss on our schedule.
It is a great time to be a VFL. Go Big Orange.

Not too worried about uk, I don’t feel Leary is as durable as Levis was and it may be difficult for their OC to be as effective for his 2nd stint. Seems coordinators that come back rarely reach the same success but maybe I’ve just paid less attention to the ones that do.

Aside from our own dysfunction, scar was a cornered animal scenario. They may be in a similar situation this year at some point but I highly doubt they find a way to lock in like that on the road.

I also can’t wait to watch the disaster of jimbo and petrino inevitably clashing.

Im worried about any game we have after Alabama. Especially when the other team has sn off week.before.

I hate to argue about a team and series that I could care less about, but you’re wrong about Saban out coaching Fisher - the 2021 result supports that and, for all intents and purpose, A&M let them off the hook last year one week before they played us.

He doesn’t have Jameis Winston anymore

Color me skeptical that he’s ever winning another natty

Also, if Auburn had an adequate defense, FSU doesn’t win… Still yet, I think his current roster is more talented than the 2014 FSU team, albeit without a player of Winston’s caliber.

Carolina will be circled. We always say the same thing about Kentucky every year. Being up there will make it interesting until we go up 3 TDs

A&M is the wild card on the entire schedule in the sense that we always seem to catch that one west team on the upswing. They’ll have something to prove this year after being hot garbage last year. JMO
After you get punched in the mouth people forget what happened last year.

A&M will lose 3 this year...Tennessee, Bammer and LSU.

Kentucky worries me about where it falls on the schedule more than what kind of team they will have. We have South Carolina, A&M at home, then bama on the road before we head to Kentucky.

and they have an open week before the game

How does Texas A&M's talent compare after last year's mass exodus? They are second to last on transfer rankings. Below shows they lost 31 players to the portal and only gained 10?

2023 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings

Most of the players they lost were never going to play. I think they are still number four or number five in the nation in blue chip percentage. And they return all their starters on both lines. They return 10 out of 11 players on offense who started at some point during the year and about the same on defense.

I've worried about your A&M point as well. It feels like often teams with talent have a big bounce back season after a terrible year. One thing I'm happy about is that we can give them the full Neyland experience since last time they were here during the Covid year and wasn't full attendance. I'm sure they're 12th man is good, but ours is better.

Yes, if A&M could have executed at the 2 yd line last season Bama would have lost at home. But for the Saban-Jimbo comparison, Jimbo can get the talent but he is not at Saban's level in coaching up the talent he has.

A&M lost 5 games by less than 1 score. With a dog crap offense. Their defense (top 25 last year) and offense should both improve.

This is just my personal opinion, but I think anyone who spends even a single moment worrying about Kentucky is simply wasting their time.

If you must do it, save your angst for games that offer true potential for doubt. South Carolina and A&M are decent ones to ponder.

Sure, Kentucky will pull off an upset once every 13 years or so (they've won three games in something like 38 years). But it happens so infrequently, it is truly not worth being concerned about. And even more key, it only happens when we have a coach in over his head.*

Simply put: with a decent head coach, we don't lose to them. No sense in worrying about it.

Go Vols!

* those three KY wins in the past 38 years: once while we had Dooley (even he is 2-1 against the Wildcats), once in Butch's final season (the only season in our history that we've lost 8 games), and once with Pruitt at the helm (he too is 2-1 against them). Note: Butch Jones bats .800 against Kentucky as Tennessee's head coach. That's how not scary they are.

A combination of Heupel's offense and Rodney Garner D-Line is an absolute matchup nightmare for them!

I agree with this, I was replying to an original statement that Saban could out Coach Fisher from the ICU.

Only about 20 years:confused:
More like 13. With really 11 as the very worst period (Dooley's 3 + Jones' 5 + Pruitt's 3). Most folks add in Kiffin's year and Fulmer's last season as well. So, 13.

Fulmer detractors will add 2005 to 2007 and call it 16 years. But we played in the SEC Championship game in 2007. We may have lost, but we were there. That may not be championship caliber, but it's not Dark Age material, either.

So call it 13 years.

Go Vols!
