Au contraire, oh great literary one. One of us has a degree in writing from an Ivy league university - I’d wager you don’t.And yet the subtle and illuminating art of the metaphor is completely beyond your ken.

The big meaning behind the 40 years in the Bible is that it represented a generation. I think it's fair to say we missed a generation in the college football landscape.More like 13. With really 11 as the very worst period (Dooley's 3 + Jones' 5 + Pruitt's 3). Most folks add in Kiffin's year and Fulmer's last season as well. So, 13.
Fulmer detractors will add 2005 to 2007 and call it 16 years. But we played in the SEC Championship game in 2007. We may have lost, but we were there. That may not be championship caliber, but it's not Dark Age material, either.
So call it 13 years.
Go Vols!
Tennessee doesn't catch a break from the West this year. Bama will be a motivated team that has us at home and revenge on their mind, A&M will either be improved or Jimbob will be out the door by midseason.. Nothing easy about this year's schedule, some tough road games and a toughy or two at home.
Ahhhhhh the preseason optimism. I love it, but it sucks getting hit in the mouth.I'm marking it down right now that UT doesn't lose any home games this year, yes including UGA! So I think we will take care of TAMU and get our revenge and stomp USC.
Tennessee will have all its troubles on the road against Bama, Florida at night and Kentucky. If we can manage to win one of those it will be a good year.
