It's about time someone starting holding these bullies responsible for their actions. Just because you're good at sports doesn't make you better than anyone else at life.

Back in my day we played murder ball and dodgeball in PE. We rode our bikes all day all over the place without helmets. We left the house in the morning and came back at the end of the day for dinner. We walked 2 miles to school, jaywalking across busy four lane roads. We got smacked around by our teachers when we were out of line. And a whole bunch of other stuff that is frowned on now. There was no way to contact us and thus helicopter parent us in any way. Glad I grew up when I did.

same here; you can thank lawyers and liberals (basically, LG) for all the tiptoeing and PC bullshyte nowadays.

Graduated high school in '99 - I can still remember getting paddled in 5th grade by the principal for throwing rocks at a bully. (there were holes in the paddle so she could swing it faster; the myth on the playground was it would electrocute you as well)

Kept most of us in line =)

My first grade teacher would call up those acting out to her desk, ask them to put their hand out, and you'd get popped on the knuckles with a wooden ruler. I only acted out once.

My wife is a 4th grade teacher. The crap they have to put with today is unreal.

I never experienced it myself but rumor has it my elementary school principle had an electric paddle as well.

My 7th grade shop teacher had holes in his paddle. He would also take a few steps back and get a running start. Only took me once to learn my lesson.
