Kiffin having trouble recruiting at USC?

Read the weekly whispers on Rivals today. Very depressing. They think USC gets EVERYBODY. Im not saying that means they actually do but they seem to be in it with every top guy.

TOS says that USC is recruiting several 5* prospects such as OT Seantrel Henderson, WR Markeith Ambles LB Christian Jones. The Trojans have a real shot with Henderson and are likely the team to beat for Ambles, but have some ground to make up with Jones (he likes the idea of playing for Monte Kiffin)

USC is also in on OT Chaz Green & Arie Kouandjio, TE Christian Thomas & DBs Nickell Robey, Demar Dorsey, Sean Parker and Dietrich Riley.

As many as a dozen prospects might take OVs to USC this weekend, including Jones, Robey, Kouandjio, Green, Dorsey and Thomas. 5* CB Latwan Anderson may not make his scheduled trip, Apparently, there has been little contact between Anderson and USC since Kiffin's arival.

TOS expects USC to land its share of these prospects and close strong.

If you look at who there are in on...Henderson, Thomas, Parker, Riley were all high on USC prior to Kiffin - all except Henderson were thought to be strong USC leans before this. The other "top" guys he is recruiting are guys he was after while here at UT - Ambles, Jones, Green, Dorsey, Robey, Kouandjio.

TOS also says they think he will land his SHARE of these guys - NOT ALL

For my money, I just don't see all those east coast guys venturing that far west just when they have ties here in the southeast and offers from top SEC programs. Jones and Dorsey can easily land at FSU. Koundjio and Green anywhere from UT to UF to Bama. Ambles I think is headed to USC and probably the ones that USC was leading for already - maybe 4-5 of these guys...still a good haul, but they won't get them all

It will be interesting to see how they end up. You can bet kiffin is lying to the recruits and telling them that the ncaa sanctions won't effect them. probably telling them they will only have to forfeit past wins. some recruits are going to believe them, but i'm sure some of the kids and their parents will see through it.

I'm sure they will Volfan76 but you know ONE thing I'd love ultimately to happen is that we win some major bowls with some of these EE we got from Kiffin....Tyler Bray---I'd love to see that kid develop and then we go stick it to the Kiffins!

All in all, come NSD, USC will be in top 3 or 4.

I think they'll be in the top 6-7... but will not have all 28 commitments. I bet they will end up with 23ish. Add Ambles, Riley, and possibly Dorsey and that's 17... how many silent/last minute commits do you really expect in the next week?!

USC under Kiffin will always have an ample supply of 5* skill positions. His personality coupled with that whole scene out there will be a huge draw.

Its all gonna come down to coaching. The other PAC 10 teams are pulling together some teams, so I think the dominance is over. They may win a few PAC 10 titles this decade, but not every year.

Monte's retirement will hurt him if he doesn't win the PAC 10 in the next three years.

Hopefully its a miserable failure, but the next three years out there will probably look like 2009. Bowl game, and battling for the PAC 10 title.

Yeah I might have been a little misleading saying they get everybody. But Henderson, Shirley, Ambles, Pullard and Thomas on top of the guys they already have. Plus Dixon and Riley among a large group of possibilities? Unreal.

Would recommend that all USC recruits ask to see the official NCAA letter outlining the allegations of violations. It would be cool if every recruit asked, first thing on campus, to see the "letter".

They can sign whoever they want, it doesnt matter, they will lose there 1 conference game every year and play at the rose bowl. We should not care about USC since we will never see them unless its a BCS championship game.

I am not a recruiting guru, but you all know how our last coach loved the silent commit thing. With all the 4 and 5 stars looking at going there, I think USC will end up in the top 3 and, just possibly, pull off the top class this year. That being said, I do believe he has too many "on the line." I think he will have to turn a few away come Feb. 3rd and this will end up just doing more damage to his already flailing credibility. In the long run, IMO, it all will come back to haunt him in the coming years.

...but not ONE recruit? Not even a 3-star commit? I don't think things at USC (recruiting-wise) are a peachy as everyone thinks!

I agree about Riley and Ambles!

Who thinks UT will be ranked HIGHER than USC when its all said & done? I personally think they'll finish close, but it would make my year to beat Kiffin & Co. in this battle!

Absolutely no chance of that happening...Take a look at their class...Add Ambles to that list and they are up in the top 5....We have a long way to go....Appreciate the enthusiasm tho :good!:

I don't think anybody is passing Florida on Rivals. Florida and USC's average stars are almost the same, but Florida has 25 guys committed.

Your absolutely right... Florida's class is legendary! They may go down as one of the best classes ever assembled! They will clearly be the #1 class this year!

As for USC, silents or not... I'm still cheering a little bit inside that Kiffin hasn't had a single commit yet! :)

I know we are tired of Kiffin threads, but I thought this was worth mentioning...

With that said, Kiffin has yet to sign ONE recruit at "Powerhouse" USC while Dooley has been on an absolute roll at UT! Does this mean Kiffin is having trouble getting signatures at USC? Does it mean parents don't trust the slime ball and won't let there kids go there?! ....or am I just reading too much into this?

What are your thoughts/comments on this?

First off, his player needs aren't as urgent at USC.

Second, he's flipped his problem for at least this year. He's been recruiting to UT and trying to convince kids from FL or CA or elsewhere to leave home for K'ville. Most of the relationships he's developed are in the eastern half of the country. Now he's behind on developing relationships with CA kids and is left trying to convince kids he has relationships with to travel from the SE to USC.

I don't think he'll get many if any of those guys to cross the country for him. OTOH, he may pick off some CA kids. He'll probably leave his class short and make it up next year.

As much as I hate to say it, his only trouble with recruiting to USC is not being able to sign 40 kids. I agree that some recruits may not want to go that far, but they'll pull the west coast kids. They'll go after some UCLA and Washington commits, just to be jerks. They should have a top 5 class, we'll see...JMHO.

Coach Xs recruiting class will be a very good one in my opinion. Most of the kids on their wish list are 5 star guys. They hardly ever commit real early even though they have all but decided where they will go. I hate the fact that these kids will go there and reward this ahole, but I think thats what will happen. I also think in football you get what you deserve eventually. It might take awhile for that to happen, but let me peer in to my crystal ball: I envision sanctions possibly severe maybe just minor for now. Regardless of the outcome of the investigation, USC will be watched very closely. The Lane gang will step over the line somewhere and it will get nasty. I think Monte will probably retire soon as well leaving some instability to the staff. Orgeron will get busted for a DUI or some other infraction. Scandal will be in the future with young immature Lane as well. USC will get very tired of the bad publicity every time they turn around and run the whole staff out on a rail. On a brighter side, the Oakland Raiders job will be open and Kiffin an Company could apply for that.
