the sad thing is.. to ESPN this is a bigger deal than the Blackhawks winning the Stanley Cup.

They love USC wayy too much. It's obnoxious.

First let me say so I am not labeled a Kiffin lover I HATE KIFFIN for how he left.

But doesn't this buy him more time? If he fails now it is because of all the NCAA stuff etc etc. But if USC still wins, (not like they aren't loaded and the next couple years the 65 on Scholly will be talented) He looks like even the NCAA couldn't bring, what he is building, down. So I think he will spin this either way.

How does the negatively effect his Rep.?

We need to do the same thing to them that they were doing to us the night they left. Start calling players and telling them their options. Call their mommas and tell 'em to come bring their babies to a strong Southern School with morals and class. Bring momma in and feed her a good ole southern dinner at the Dooley's house and give her box seats to watch her baby play ball. Donated by a local business of course... lol

If those players in question want to leave USC because they will not have a chance to play for a National Championship, then what would be their motivation to play for UT?

To have a chance in a wide open SECe Which has more weight than most other conference champs.

Maybe it buys him more time, but how cares-they are about to get raided. They might lose upperclassmen, and part of their incoming class. Plus-forget SEC schools for a second-UCLA has made big inroads the last few seasons and will most likely get 2 huge classes because of this. Even if this does give Kiffin a grace period he will still be starting from scratch in a few years and competing against loaded UCLA and Oregon teams. The one advantage he had was the talent level there and coming in with this class. That's gone now. He's about to find out what life's like for coaches who actually have to prove something. What a great day.

As bad as I hate to admit it..this is true. Why transfer to a re-building school that is still 2-3 years away when you only have 2 years at most left to play? Now some of the new recruits (ie Henderson) might benefit, but again, he would have to wait at least 2 years to compete for a NC here just like he would if he stayed at USC. I don't see this benefiting UT in any way other than the sheer pleasure of watching Kiffy and Ogre squirm and whiff on blue chip recruits for the next 2 years.

I'm not sure how some of you guys think we can just call up and recruit players at other schools.

It's kinda against the rules. Don't think for a second that we wouldn't get turned in for that one.

I'm sure that CDD knows all the rules regarding this, but I'm still not so sure that he would try to contact any of them anyway.

The SECe might be wide open, but I don't think we will be anything but a spoiler. I'm hoping for the best, but being a realist my expectations are fairly modest.

unfortunatlye, Dooley wont do that.

this is a time i truly wish our coach was more aggressive and if you will, "slimy."

It is not about being aggressive or not. If he starts calling USC players, we are going to be on probation. Learn the rules.

I doubt Dooley makes any phone calls, especially to those who followed LK there. Dooley has been the veritable broken record about kids who bleed orange and want to come to Tennessee. And it's a good groove to be stuck in.

Edit: I didn't know the phone rules. Regardless, I would doubt Dooley would harbor a lot of credulity for any "Come back to Orange" moment given his previous line.

When it comes to a program that receives sanctions there are ways for players to get a no fault transfer...I know upper classman can transfer "without prejudice" if there is an "extended" (>1 year) post-season ban.

I wonder how that "dream job" is looking about right now? This just confirms that Kiffin is not the engimatic genius like many on here make him out to be. The guy really isn't very intelligent. Everybody else in the world was turning that job down because they could see the writing on the wall. But, not dufus. He went charging in with blinders on--just like he always does.

With all the bridges he's burned, he better hope beyond hope that he makes it at USC (which just got a lot harder). It will be very hard for him to get a decent job anywhere else if you falls flat at USC.

Totally agree, thought he was stupid to jump into USC now when he could have waited till next time, when they get rid of sanction coach. Not a bright boy. Hope he knows a good investor for those extra millions he got for jumping. His dad is already senile and orgenon will be in the nursing home with a stroke, so he will have to go it alone after USC dumps him. oh well.

According to everything that i have read... we do not need permission to contact current juniors and seniors according to the ncaa bylaws

Given the obscene amount of money that Kiffhead is getting, and the lack of "institutional control," I would like to think that Garrett is toast when the smoke clears.

I think that CDD will take anyone from USC that wants to be here and fits the system. The biggest question would be who wants to be here...If he doesn't end up with anyone, then I hope USC gets poached by any and everyone else.

It's becoming more and more apparent that CLK is the football equivalent of a transitional champion...just keeping things warm until USC finds the guy they REALLY want to take the wheel. The program isn't anywhere near dead, but I'd be shocked if he spends any meaningful amount of time there. Ultimately it's good that he wasn't here long enough to get us slapped with the same kind of penalties. Things have a funny way of working out.

The NCAA can allow players to transfer if a post season ban is in place thru their sr. year. Maybe you guys should go after Mustain.

I thought you guys might be interested in this. Check out this article. http://blutarsky.wordpress.com/2010/06/10/kiffin-watch-karma-is-a-*****-pal/

The extended post season bowl ban apparently carries some significant problems for USC in the fact that it allows players to transfer without penalty to another school if the bowl ban last the remainder of their eligibility.

Favorite quote from the article

da da da da da i'm lovin it. eff kiffy and his whole crew, hope they go in a hole for a century.:birgits_giggle:

I would hope that the sanctions would belittle his ego but how much do you think he really cares about all of the penalties??For some reason someone decided to pay the imbecile 4 MILLION dollars so i imagine he's still laughing thinking how in the world did i manipulate these people into giving me this much money?

I'm convinced that Lame is so delusional that he believes he is worth every penny.

Well even if we don't get one single USC player, just the thought of guys leaving their program to attend other schools is icing on the freakin cake!! Unfortunately I doubt Lane will even been remorseful in this. He is so blinded to morals/ethics that he will not even see that he too had a hand in this, and that given the time he (along with Ed) would have only dug a deeper hole. I am so glad that he is not our coach. It hurt in the beginning, but now, man thank God its not Tennessee at the bottom of "The Lead" on ESPN.

Is that why Dooley didn't fill all of our scholarships on Signing Day? Saving room for transfers from USC?
