Kiffin to Ole Miss

Helton had been the OC at Western Kentucky and USC before coming to UT. Friend was at UGA for several years. Ansley and Sherrer both had been SEC coaches for several years before coming to UT. Huge difference in their experience and the great one’s staff
Helton was CoOC at USC.
Friend was "allowed to leave"/fired at UGA. Ansley and Sherrer had never been DCs. We are talking about promoting coaches from position coaches or lower grade schools.

Every one of the coaches you mentioned had multiple years of experience at big SEC programs, not UCF, Baylor, FAU, and Houston. If you can’t understand the difference between working for Nick Saban, Mark Stoops, and Kirby Smart on defense as compared to Josh Huepel, Chad Morris, and Willie Taggart on offense before hiring them then I don’t know what to tell you. I guess if you want to downplay coaching in the SEC for four years at a top school as irrelevant you can but hiring a conference USA level coaching staff isn’t impressive. And, as I have stated many times his “great” coaching staff consisted of his relatives and friends nearly a decade ago. They aren’t getting back together.

I noticed you left out Florida State, I’m sure that was an accident.

Also left out the fact that Baylor was a top 5 team in the country, that he was co-OC for much of his time there and that he had 7 linemen drafted in 8 years from Baylor, which may well be more than Tennessee had. But yeah, if he were a position coach under Mark Stoops at Kentucky that would be much better.

Except for Friend none of the coaches had experience at their job at UT in the SEC. Meaning it's a crap shoot. Its always a crap shoot.

To all the SEC success there are at least as many failures. For all the outsiders that failed coming in there are people who succeeded.
