Lol, yea, that's a way to spin it. I'd be lying to you if I said that I was a USC fan when Petros Papadakis was there. :)

But I've been rooting for them for about 8 or 9 years now, so it's not like I'm some bandwagon fan.

I would pull for the SEC in all championship games. I would like to know the answer if you ask Tyler Bray, Brandon Willis, Corey Miller, Ben Martin, JuJuan James, Tyler Bray's dad, Tyler Bray's mom, David Reeves, Jim Chaney, Kippy Brown, Lance Thompson, Mike Hamilton, Bruce Pearl, A.J. Johnson, Lord Vader, Bryce Brown, Matt Simms and Nick Laimason. Ask those guys. They are the ones that all took a chance on a new coach in a new program with a new direction. They all said "Yes" to Coach Kiffin and his promises. They all bought into his system. They all bought into what he was building here at Tennessee. They all at one point signed their life away to his direction. In some cases, they pulled up stakes and moved cross-country and left behind their homes in hopes of building something special. And in some cases, they could not go back without consequences. They all believed in him. When he said he would be their head coach, they wanted to be a part of that. For these people, I feel bad. I am just a fan. I can hire a new coach and move on. For them, this is their lifeblood. This is what they have put their lives on the line for. And, man, I feel bad for them.

Well about 10 years ago is when they had run of 3 or 4 good seasons...so...that's debatable.

More like 5-7 years ago, but yes, you are correct. I didn't really know much about USC until about 2001 or 2002, and that's when I started liking them.

you mean 2002 when they had their first winning season in a couple of years and played in a BCS bowl? It's still jumping on a winning team's bandwagon and USC's is one of the biggest in the country. No one cares about them when they're down but the "lifetime fans" come out when they win.

and personally I would root for bammer or UF to get to triple digits before I would cheer for LK to win anything

I can see where you're coming from, but it's not like I'm 40 years old and didn't give a damn about USC until they started winning. It's not like I knew much outside of the SEC when I was 8 or 9 years old.

It isn't the record I'd expect for the team that they put on the field. Should have beaten Washington, if it wasn't for Aaron Corp putting on a craptastic performance. The talent that SC had should have beat Arizona. I kind of expected the Oregon loss, but the asskicking that Stanford handed them was totally out of the blue, IMO.

Stanford had a workhorse running back that exposed the D coordinator's weakness...which was being a defensive coordinator

I thought they could give SC a game, but I didn't expect them to completely thrash them.

So root for the national championship to remain in the conference, or root for a guy who made a laughing stock of your program while he was here and then made you look like a jilted bride left at the altar.

Yeah, tough call.

Originally, I was a "I pull for the SEC" guy. Then I realized that having our biggest rivals winning national titles does us absolutely no good whatsoever. I pulled for Alabama this year, because I don't like Texas. It's a UT-UT thing.

This pretty much sums up my view on bowl season. Plus I have a friend that is a big Texas fan, so I enjoyed watching them get beat down.

Kiffin. I don't root for any other SEC teams and i still like Kiffin so this one was easy.

I'm sure all of Jortland felt enourmous pride in the national championships won by Miami and FSU, too, because of all of that Sunshine State unity.

I no longer have any emotional investment in Lane Kiffin. If the guy moves on to coach in Gainesville or Tuscaloosa one day, I'll hope he loses every time he steps on the field. Until that happens, I have very little reason to care.

Maybe the situation will be different if/when it comes up, but right now, I want Kiffin to fail, for none other than my own selfishness. I'd rather they lose to UF as opposed to Bama.
