Until this year, I figured Laney boy would emerge at a rogue Junior College. He burned too many bridges to be taken seriously. Yet somehow he resurfaces running the (record setting) offense for the top team in the nation. Barring injury to Cooper, this team can score with anyone. And with their usual defensive prowess, Bama appears to be the favorite to take home another trophy.

Will Lane cash out after one season? I think he will, as I don't think his ego would mesh wish Saban's long term. Since Florida is expected to hire a head coach with an offensive background, would they roll the dice with him? I think we can assume his dad is retired after getting fired 2 years in a row. But would Lane bring in Orgeron for a quick rebuild?

Not sure he goes anywhere. Makes Nick Saban look smart as hell though. Nick knew that his weakness was likely his QB, so he brings in maybe the best QB coach in the nation..

Not sure Florida would take a chance on Lane. He's failed at 3 head coaching gigs. Some guys are just better as coordinators.

I don't think Florida will hire him, but if they did I think he could build the most dominating football team in the country.

First, wrong board.

Second, bama had success before Kiffin and will after he leaves. Bamas success is based off of Saban and they will be a threat as long as he is around. How many bama assistants have been fools gold as head coaches? If I'm UF I don't trust Kiffin without a leash and muzzle on him like he has at bama. The dude is a loose cannon and can not be trusted when he's in charge.

Domino effect will occur, someone to florida, someone to Michigan, someone somewhere else, and those jobs open. Lane will get one of those latter jobs and take his brother (Ole Miss best recruiter) with him.. Also he will bring back the Ogre as well.

I an only hope Florida hires him.

Lets see this year Kiffin's game plan was throw the ball to cooper and hand the ball to Yelton.....and he is a genius. Basically line cooper up in different formations and throw it to him. Will see next year how it goes. I can't see him at a top tier school without going the peering route first, but hey I never understood how he got the UT, USC and Raiders jobs either. I think we have the possibility of Miles going to Michigan and then 2 marquee jobs open in SEC, so who knows.

If I am Foley, Lane Kiffin is definitely on my shortlist.

I doubt Foley is looking for a long term solution. Fla has not won the East in 5 years, but knows the right coach can get them in the picture sooner, rather than later.

Petrino is a good comparison. It all depends on how you sell the program to the money people. Recruits won't care.

He is the perfect fit at Bama. Saban has a way of keeping his people focused and on a leash at the same time. He is an excellent OC but not HC material. He showed at USC that he isnt a HC

We have just won the biggest game in years and going to a bowl. How dare you bring up the idiot to try to ruin the positive upbeat.

Then perhaps you should become a devoted follower and cheer for whichever team he is associated with.
He wasn't saying anything that wasn't true. No fan of Kiffin here either, he can coach QB's and calls a pretty good game.

The NCAA imposed sanctions against the Trojan football program for a lack of institutional control, including a two-year postseason ban, the loss of 30 scholarships over three years,

Lane was hired to keep the program from completely falling apart during this time. He did his job.

Interesting how he's created a rock star status for himself. Last night the announcers were all talking about him when Bama was on offense, as if he was the head coach. Lots of camera shots of him as well. Find me another team where the OC is given anything other than a passing mention during the broadcast.

Imo he wouldnt be the worst hire for UF and I truly believe he'll win 9 games a year at UF. That said No way Foley pulls that trigger unless 10 others say "no thanks"

Imagine a good play-caller with great talent.

Interesting how that works.

Doesn't make him a great head coach.
