Kim Caldwell (Rookie Coach of the Year-WBCA) is named Head Coach of Iconic Lady Vols WBB

These coaches weren’t held to the same standards Kellie is or the LVs have…

That’s why there is discussion on her firing for an unknown… there’s many things the new coach must do to hold up that tradition then make it better

Young up and comer isn’t y u fire Kellie we might as well have begged Kara if that’s the case
I've seen your takes on here. Your opinion and judgement about the program means very little to nothing.

You fire Kellie because she can't get the job done and she jeapordized that tradition and standard.

And like my last post noted: Danny White doesn't care how you or the fanbase will perceive the hire. Regardless if it's a veteran or an up-and-comer. If they're going to win games and turn the program around immediately then they're a candidate.

To my point.. what makes this a bad job?

Already top 3 in a P5, and admin willing to pay, NIL that is getting better, on par or slightly above facilities, top 10 fan attendance, good recruiting geography…

Makes u wonder what the negative could be… I have answers y’all don’t wanna hear

Em has been sitting in their mother’s basement for over 5 years trying their damndest to throw shade. Knows nothing. Has grudge against TN. Why? Because of the basement thing.

Oh dear lord. First—let's figure out your vs. you're, especially if YOU'RE gonna come at me talking about reading comprehension. :)

The very, very obvious implication from the author of that tweet was that Kara didn't want the job at Tennessee because it "ain't what it used to be." Don't play dumb. You were latching onto it because it plays into the doom and gloom narrative that you've been trying to spin in an effort to show that letting Kellie go was the worst decision in the history of mankind.

I think it's more likely that Danny knows hiring Kara would be perceived by most as 1) going back to the Lady Vol well and 2) a lateral move at best. You don't let Kellie go to pursue someone like Kara.
U didn’t read at all as I said.

Go see if u can find MY question… thanks 😘

Exactly they just hate me and want to dog pile bc I question DW at all
I’ll let it all play out first before I question. I have to admit though that KY hiring away a Final Four coach and bringing in some of his players while we possibly hire someone who won the Sun Belt would be terrible for the perception of our program. I’m not saying that she is a terrible coach, and she might eventually turn out to be pretty good. However, the immediate perception of a hire like that makes our program look like more of an also ran than it is

That tweet is the same stuff we heard ad nauseum about Tennessee football in the post-Fulmer years. Then, at maybe the lowest point in the program’s history, a competent administration finally makes a good hire, and the program reaches a #1 ranking in one-and-a-half seasons.

Everyone in here knows what this program is and what it’s capable of. Don’t let the outside noise demoralize you.

Well let’s pray u are correct… I can hear the moans and groans.

Again I said I was fine with Kellie being let go but to act like she is a bad coach/did a bad job is crazy.

Hiring an up and comer is wild. A risk. Let’s see if he takes it. If we miss the tournament I’ll bookmark your take…

Also all I’m gonna say is if we get a sub par coach… ITS ALL YALL LOUD MOUTHS FAULT.

Kellie is highly respected in the coaching world and many coaches appreciate what she did here. She was successful. She was growing and expanding with USA and international experience. That def rubbed many candidates the wrong way. No one wants crazy expectations like a Natty in 3 years. And a league win in 5 with Dawn and Mulkey in the SEC.

We will get what we deserve sadly. I’m holding hope but faith is waivering. No guarantee it’s a small name but…

Crazy the interest was from mid levels with big eyes seeing a pay increase from 200k to 1 milly… ofc they don’t care to come here make a bag and fail.

All this to say… DW hurry the f up
Settling for sub par (Tennessee Standards) is not an option. She was 4-21 against ranked opponents. She was fired from NC State and a few years later they're in the final four. That tells me she was holding them back as well. The only reason anyone is defending her is because she was a player.

It’s fine I am optimistic.

So imagine we hire a coach with no ranked experience was my point. I never argued she should stay but that many may be thrown off by the expectations and how she was fired

So much hate for TN. They said early in the year Rickea was the 17th draft pick. Begrudginly moved her up to 8th later in the year. The others on the podcast questioned them why and they said something stupid about her windows being too small. Doesn't like anything else about TN either.

Interestingly though, I'm pretty sure this was the person who said last fall Kenny Brooks would be in the SEC next year, but said he'd be in orange.

It’s probably not going to be some earth shattering “big fish” name tbh

But it doesn’t necessarily have to be either.

Josh Heupel and Tony Vitello didn’t show up here with fistfuls of championships.

If it’s someone who knows the game, relates to players well, and recruits relentlessly, it can work.

Why is your automatic assumption that Tennessee wanted to interview her?

Exactly. "PrimeTimeMitch" seems to be some doofus who fancies himself a WBB insider--but probably isn't. You can't post a note saying that Lawson "is staying at Duke and did not interview" unless you first reveal that she was approached by White and UT. If you don't know that she was approached and asked to interview, then your note is both meaningless and misleading and you, in fact, know nothing. I saw one other post from him on the UT job that was equally lame.

I’m just hoping it is one of those things that nobody really knows who is being considered. We had people on here close to the program that were blindsided when Kellie was let go, so I’m hoping it’s the case that nobody really knows. We had people saying Kara was a backup option, and she hasn’t even been interviewed apparently.
Yes, nobody knows.

Just prepping the soldiers

Truth and logic will not be tolerated on this board.

Our administration top-to-bottom is better than it has been in three decades. The only thing impacting the perception is the damage done by previous administrations and the national media.

That is just a random commentator on Xitter, it means nothing (in terms of the status of the UT job).

There is a belief that at some point in the past. Any coach in the country would have lept at the chance to coach at Tennessee and since that is not apparently happening here, the job must be less.

The narrative never made any sense, even in the heyday. You remember the other narrative - nobody wants to follow a legend? Both can't be true.

Recruiting is a major part of the job....... Aside from a couple of recruits she did poorly. She wasn't bringing in the players needed to compete. There wasn't enough there to say the future was going to be better.

At Tennessee that shouldn't be acceptable. And in KH's case it wasn't.

I’ve been thinking, and would it have made sense to give Kellie one more year to see what she does? I’m not really liking any of the possible coaches out there. Seems a bit premature, but what do I know.
That would have been a wasted year for the inevitable firing a year from now. DW’s first responsibility is to the UTAD, not to any coach who has failed at high school recruiting so poorly and gotten the program into the predicament the LVs face going into next year with the loss of RJ.

Funny thing about these "insiders", some are saying opposite things so somebody isn't an insider. Probably no one is an actual insider.

But we gotta speculate! What else can we do?
My final comment before I went to bed last night was that if I was Danny White, I would give contradictory info to folks just to see who leaks what.

It is difficult to leap for a job that has been open three times in 50 years.
