Kim Caldwell (Rookie Coach of the Year-WBCA) is named Head Coach of Iconic Lady Vols WBB

Actually, recruiting was the concern with him and his staff. He never landed a four star at UCF where they are surrounded by many. But it was UCF. The bigger issue is he brought much of his staff and they were not in on the type of 0layers TN needed and hampered by the “we are terrible cheaters” press conference, recruiting did not go well early at all. In this case, some big time recruiters would be key imo.
Yeah, I couldn’t remember which way it was. I do know there were lots of concerns about recruiting with him and if you read that board enough, there are a few that still have concerns even though he is doing very well. I mentioned in a previous post that you would have to pair some ace recruiters, think RG for football, with Caldwell and some really good NIL to make a splash in recruiting

Our best bet is to get someone at a school that has two or three nice players that like that coach and transfer. Get them here along with two of the best portal additions and try to have a big winning season. That could help you get started on the right path to recruiting.
Isn't that depressing if this is the only way you can get good young players?

If it had happened at Florida or several other SEC school it would be considered fabulous. At Tennessee it just gets you fired that is what Pat left for any coach following.
One can nor ignore the performance of this years, team in their first 10-15 games of the season. Watching those games were incredible difficult to watch with players stand in the same spot of offense and defense and making little or no effort to screen or defend opposite's players. They looked like some freshmen teams in Division 2 basketball. I do not know what happened during the last third of the season, but, somehow, they looked like a team who could and almost did , beat South Carolina. It puzzles me how that could happen. Another problem is she has had difficulty recruiting enough high school players who are SEC caliber. The lack of consistency was telling and, I think was the primary reasons she could not remain our coach.

Have no idea but Food City should be willing to take on the task of feeding him.
Going to take a break now from this most stimulating thread ,fix a sandwich , sit in my LAZY Boy and hopefully watch the LV softball team take Ga on successfully again.Talk with you guys and gals again later.

I can’t remember. Did Heupel recruit relatively well at UCF compared to other AAC schools? I remember there being some conversations about it on the Recruiting forum when he was hired. Maybe one of them can verify.

I guess you could look at how they recruited compared to other mid major schools like with Heupel at UCF. For Caldwell, we’d have to look at how she recruited compared to other D2 schools, which for that level does look promising.

There was a lot of the same stuff about Hyp there as here on a new coach. He was from a mid-major school, wouldn't be able to coach or recruit against the big boys in SEC. Well he proved right away he could coach and scheme with the big boys of the SEC and he currently has a top 10 recruiting class.

I think it shows if your a good coach your just a better coach with the better athletes you can get at a P5 school. Hoping DW does hire a proven P5 coach but all is not lost if he doesn't. As many have said on here in the last few days, a coach that can recruit well is the real criteria needed.

Heupel did have several years at UCF though and had multiple good seasons there. He proved he could win multiple seasons at a higher level. Caldwell has one season at a mid major. She has won everywhere she has coached though. Recruiting would be the question for sure.

Sorry if already posted, but I'm hearing Lawson has declined an interview at UT

Old news and I never expected her to be a candidate anyway.
This group is not capable of nuance, and doesn’t understand how this works. She is in the family. She is succeeding at a reputable program, but not a top choice for this one now. She has supporters in the family. When White saw that the search would not drop to get to her, they let her know. She maintained her pride, and probably got a raise by saying “I’m staying at Duke”. We maintained peace in the family and a good relationship with her for the future. We may want and need her later. You treat w person of her stature and position with respect and keep doors open. I hope we all wish her well.

As much as anyone else at this point. He does have connections at TN.
I think it’s hilarious that some of the people they come on here and post stuff they heard from friends that they trust but, but some of those same people scoff when they see John Adams’ thoughts on the search.

Through the Boost-her Club, I had several dinners with most of the players during this season and last. I've been on a couple of road trips with them, too. I was a donor to the Boost-her Club as well as the Tennessee Fund and attended events hosted by both. I personally know the Lady Vol donors on both sides and there was never anyone that expressed anything negative about Coach Harper's interactions with them, nor did I observe that with her interactions with them.

As I have said before, the lack of NIL funds for top recruits has everything to do with the Booster-her Fund and nothing to do with Kellie. She did everything that she could legally do to promote NIL.

Unlike you, @3meeks2001 and I have personal, first hand knowledge of this situation, and I've been a fan since Pat was dating R.B. Quit with the 'Johnny Majors' excuses for her firing.
That’s your story. I heard something different. Players love Kellie the person, not the coach.
