I’m shocked and saddened. And don’t blame Keep Kellie syndrome. Nothing to do with her, except we had every right to expect someone proven better than her. What egg on the face of the home run hire crowd. This is a popped up bunt.

I certainly didn’t realize we were in burn it down and start from scratch mode. And also build back cheaply mode. Can’t imagine how bad this makes us look nationally, especially after what KY just did. Only alternative answer is he got this far down the list bc no one else wanted it. Which also ain’t a good look.

This almost feels unfair to this poor woman. Does she know what she’s in for? Does she know what the SEC is going to look like? I’m sure she’s a perfectly nice woman and a decent coach. But we’re looking at a years long rebuild and that’s if she can recruit this level.

If she doesn’t clean up in the portal, which is hard to see happening, those things will definitely happen. I don’t think people who think otherwise watch WBB very closely.

That just actually happened. Make it make sense.

That’s right and it’s awful. Because now that’s who we have, with no hope of the coach bringing better players along. Also hard to see such an unknown doing well in the portal. The roster situation is dire even if everyone come back.

We’re about to find out about unthinkable lows. IMO unless there’s a portal miracle now the rest of your prediction is nonsensical. Do you know SEC rosters at all.

God what a thought. Just when I think it can’t be worse.

You all need to be finding a new team to pull for next season fast before some of you stroke out.

I don't know if she can coach. Hopefully I will learn more good things about her and she will bring fans like me back to the fold. Since Pat left, I've seen more warts with women's basketball. It seems like there are less character coaches, players and there are only a small percent of fundamentally good players.

I hope she turns out to be Rick Barnes but about 20 years younger. I only made it through a little of this interview but she seems to be a thoughtful person and that is a start. Sad but important that stringing together complete sentences and thoughtful comments has to be even mentioned.

I'm going to trust Danny White on this. With the right coach, this program can still strike fear into women's college basketball again. It doesn't mean it will have Pat level success because that just isn't realistic but it won't be a laughing stock either.

Let's face it, it appears Harper is leaving a program short on talent so Caldwell will have her hands full. Maybe we can land some talent fillers in the portal until her high school recruiting kicks in.

I want a coach that stands for something and win, and you don't have to look long to notice. So I will give her a chance before I deem her a failure.

The good thing for me is I know how this will end, so I won’t get emotional like I’ve been during the years. I’ll always watch and support every game but this is the end of us winning championships, we will have to hope for the moral victories and hope to be some kind of Cinderella.

Thanks for your concern. You can take solace in knowing Danny White doesn't hire based on your expectations.

She's not a "hot commodity." Silly. So hot that Kentucky hired her--oh, wait. Or Virginia Tech? Nope. How many other coaches have been
hired in recent weeks. More than a few, I'm sure. Major programs weren't beating down her door. Would they be in three/four years if she kept
winning the Sun Belt conference? No, but some bigger mid-major or less major would probably hire her.

She likely spoke to all of them and agreed to coach the Lady Vols while the other schools were still conducting their search.

I would tend to agree unless a lot of players transfer out. Only players who have liked the announcement on insta are Tess and Strip.

Why? White hired a football coach who not known, was able to retain a successful men's basketball and baseball coach and provide them more to work with. The softball program continues to improve after the coach's spouse retired. As has been pointed out the Lady Vols have not had top level consistent recruiting for years.

Good point, going to be interesting to see what she puts on the floor next season. I would hope she can change the style.
