Offer Dawn Staley to be the highest paid coach in Women's Basketball and go from there.

Be like LSU and swing for the fences!
Agreed. Tennessee Lady’s Basketball’s return to dominance is a huge story with a big time ROI. Moreso than any other school if they made such an investment. Doubt she would take it though.

I like what Wes Moore is doing at NC State, but he's a little long in the tooth. I don't think we want someone that close to retirement.
Dawn Staley might (or might not) be too hard to pry out of SC. But I don't like her judgmental aspersions on people who don't believe what she believes. She's too wacky for me.

I'd go for Jeff Walz. A coach of his caliber would surely be able to build a championship caliber team at a University with the resources, the history and the profile that the Tennessee women's program has. And he's already gotten to the Final Four and beyond with Louisville. Besides that, there's the state song with his name in it, courtesy of Patti Page. Also, he's young enough to stick around for a long while.

Anybody who thinks we're going to try and hire Staley is loony and delusional. She got the top BB program in the country. Why would she leave it to come here?

It's like Kentucky men's BB fans who think they could hire Hurley away from UConn--a program that's won 5 national titles in the last 12/15 years--and could soon win number 6. Kentucky has 1--12 years ago. That would never happen unless Kentucky offered Hurley stupid money. That's not out of the realm of possibility--but not likely.

Kara Lawson?
Not sure why there are those so adamantly opposed to her. Sure, she's another ex-player, but that alone doesn't mean she would fail. I do agree that she is unproven, but I also think she's extremely smart and competitive. That said, I think the best name I've seen so far is Becky Hammon. She would be a home run. Oh, and a thousand no's to Dawn Staley. About the only thing worse than that would be Mulkey.

Not about you per se. It just this discussion is already happening on the Kellie harper fired thread and it is more conducive to discussion to have a common discussion in one thread versus being fragmented across several.
It is board etiquette not too start a new thread for an ongoing discussion....

Why ask the current players. There really isn’t any great players to ask. Geez. That’s about the dumbest thing I’ve heard. Danny White doesn’t need to ask anyone. He’ll make the right hire.

Athletic directors often involve the players who will be impacted by the decisions the department is making, and Danny White apparently felt he did need to ask those players.

But hey, by all means, don't let that stop you.

First step prior to the search that yielded Heupel. I wouldn’t brag about my IQ in my username…

You don't know one way or the other. Quit stating things as facts. They'll be pressure to win at Southern Cal next year just like anywhere else. You're so full of shat!
Not like here

She may come but I don’t see it

White did this with the soccer players after Pensky got hired away by FSU--and it was a dumb thing to do. The players really liked assistant coach Kirt--and White ended up hiring him as the head man, mostly, by all accounts, because he was poplar with the players. The soccer program has gone backwards ever since. You don't survey the players about who the next coach should be. Why would you? They're not in position to know /anything/ about all the other coaches around the country and their backgrounds--they only know the coaches they've been with. It's entirely pointless. Also, and relative to the soccer hire, popularity with the players should not be near the top of qualities one seeks in a new coach.
