Kim Caldwell (Rookie Coach of the Year-WBCA) is named Head Coach of Iconic Lady Vols WBB

I agree somewhat but that's the way capitalism works. It's called the Golden Rule.. Them with the gold make the rules... I too have wondered if the NIL will ruin college sports. It's turning more into semi-pro sports. BUT I also think these kids need to be paid for the sacrifices they make. The better players get paid more and the richer schools get the better players. Eventually it may even out. Not sure though.

The kids ARE paid: It's called a free college education--which, duh, is worth a helluva lot of money.

NIL in recruiting is a corrupt joke--a travesty.Of course a lot of veteran coaches and a lot of schools don't like it, with good reason: It does nothing more than create bribery contests for top prospects. Seriously? We--and every other major--are supposed to try and outbid other programs for top players? It has nothing to do with capitalism--they're supposed to be college students. It's bull$hit and not what college is supposed to be about. It's turning high-school prospects and their families into crass money-grubbers---and we know there are a lot of families out there who like the idea of free MONNAY a lot more than they appreciate the idea of a free college education. You never hear the pay-the-players activists talk about education, do we? We're watching the seedy corruption of college athletics.

Yes, major college athletics was so pristine and pure before NIL.......

And here I am thinking we’ll get an announcement soon! 😩😂 looks like the party just got started.

Would not surprise me if many of these interviews were a formality. I find a lack of congruence between a swing for the fences hire and rising stars in the mid-majors. It also wouldn’t be the first search committee to exist with a somewhat predetermined outcome.

I know a lot of people with college degrees who can’t find affordable housing.
Also, find out how much is being made from Nico merch (I.E.) and compare with the cost of 4 years at UT. When you’re done, figure out how many hours are invested by D1 players and what an hourly wage would be after all of those hours after 4 years and compare with the cost of that degree. I’ll get off your lawn now.

Communist talk.

If the market dictates I'm worth something. And you artificially restrict my value through regulations, you are my enemy.

Pay them all as much as can be afforded. I'm tired of the boomers talking about the "good old days" that weren't actually good for anyone but a few.

I feel like I am in a Twilight Zone reading how we should definitively keep a couple of current players, perhaps consider keeping a couple of more of them for off the bench purposes, and get rid of the rest. Even Kim had to rely on returning players from a team that had two losing seasons for her first year at LSU. It is delusional to think whoever we bring in is going to have 5 to 7 great players come with them or to them in short notice. We will be fortunate to get a couple of good ones. We do not have the luxury to be so elitist when our program is in disarray. We will be fortunate to have some of our current players decide to stay during the transitional period. After all, Kim won a lot that first year because she was able to coach them up. It wasn't until year 2 she got the great transfers and year 3 that she got the great recruits. Let's keep it real.

I'll take older, more experienced, and proven track record on all of the categories you list ANY DAY over young and hungry. We just had young and hungry.
So a “young and hungry” who didn’t make it, turns you off on all meritorious upcoming coaches with credentials. We’d all love instant success but chances of that happening by acquiring an “older more experienced” candidate aren’t great.

Quick update: The inbound interest is very strong for the job this time. That’s the opposite of the last go round. As a courtesy to those coaches and their agents (who are the agents of other coaches) we’ll screen and interview people who aren’t in contention for the job. The list of three viable options may have expanded to four or five, but they are still focused on a primary target who they’ve been talking to for awhile. I think we’ll have a coach by the end of next week. This shouldn’t last long.

I want someone with a proven record of winning at an elite level. Period. Don't care how old they are.

Man, how many times are you going to make this exact same point before you wear it out? It's not going to change. I'm sorry our legal system ruled in a way that doesn't align with your personal belief system.

I'm also COMPLETELY SURE this would be your opinion if you were a uniquely talented high school athlete in 2024, right?

Okay, I'm going to start listing off names. Can you just like the post with the correct guess for the primary target?
