I agree somewhat but that's the way capitalism works. It's called the Golden Rule.. Them with the gold make the rules... I too have wondered if the NIL will ruin college sports. It's turning more into semi-pro sports. BUT I also think these kids need to be paid for the sacrifices they make. The better players get paid more and the richer schools get the better players. Eventually it may even out. Not sure though.
The kids ARE paid: It's called a free college education--which, duh, is worth a helluva lot of money.
NIL in recruiting is a corrupt joke--a travesty.Of course a lot of veteran coaches and a lot of schools don't like it, with good reason: It does nothing more than create bribery contests for top prospects. Seriously? We--and every other major--are supposed to try and outbid other programs for top players? It has nothing to do with capitalism--they're supposed to be college students. It's bull$hit and not what college is supposed to be about. It's turning high-school prospects and their families into crass money-grubbers---and we know there are a lot of families out there who like the idea of free MONNAY a lot more than they appreciate the idea of a free college education. You never hear the pay-the-players activists talk about education, do we? We're watching the seedy corruption of college athletics.
