Kim Mulkey leaving Baylor, Announced as Head Coach for LSU

Didn’t think Mulkey had that many years left at Baylor. But, I thought she would’ve retired after her spinal injury. Because she’s seemed checked out the last couple of seasons. To me that is.
You think she has been “checked out” the last couple of seasons? JC, dumb is dumb.

Gail Goestenkors made it to the national title two years before moving to Texas. Her teams for a good solid 10 years were always in the top 10. Her final year before leaving for Texas, she had a 32-2 record at Duke. I’m not sure it’s fair to say Gail didn’t come into Texas on a high.
2 year layoffs are huge in coaching on a national level
basketball is the most "what have you done for me today" sport, there is

Someone on the Baylor wbb board named all the active head coaches who had either won a NC or been a semi-finalist. I think there were eleven names in total, and the odds of all but one or two moving were about zero. Any bidders for Coach Q?

Here's the Baylor fan's list:

And what's ironic that list is actually shorter than it appears. Stringer hasn't been an elite coach in forever. Neighbors' and Hillsman's appearances in the FF were clearly flukes. They aren't elite coaches at all. And honestly, it remains to be seen if the same will be said for Adia Barnes, Scott Rueck and Kelly Graves.

LSU going all in 3 mil a year? SEC just got better. I don't have a problem with it, I also think she has them as a contender year 1. Tportal is her greatest ally

At least this time the big money at LSU goes to the coach and not undercover to players to sign

Oh, that was the guys... this doesn't happen in the women's game at LSU.

What are you talking about? Gail went straight from Duke to Texas, no layoff in between. And if you’re talking about “national championship,” looks like Mulkey applies to that rule as well. “what have you done for me today?” Her time between national title game and leaving is the same as Gail’s.

Kim Mulkey named LSU’s head basketball coach. This may be a bit frightening for the SEC, or maybe not. Remember Gail Goestenkors run with Duke, and the not so smooth, same run with Texas? We shall see.

Kim Mulkey is new LSU women's basketball coach, leaving Baylor in blockbuster hire

Wonder what happens to the newly signed Jordan Lewis with Baylor, and all her newly signed players/existing players?
Didn't her son play baseball or still playing at LSU? Family ties??

[This will not happen] but Geno [IMO], needs to make a move...heck, most his squad could travel with him and be able to play now...He has racked up some many SIMPLE wins, over the years, against mediocre competition in UCONN's mediocre conferences...NOT saying the Big 12 is great, but its a lot better than past conferences...I wish he was the new LSU coach...Bring It!!...Remember y'all, this is jusy IMO...LVFL🧡🏀🧡

Hope everyone enjoyed that third place SEC finish this season. That's the ceiling for the program now...
I've noticed that regardless of the topic being discussed, your response is always something negative about Tennessee. Assuming that you are legitimately a fan of Tennessee, maybe you should spend your leisure time somewhere else? You seem very unhappy here (unless, of course, you are only pretending to be a Tennessee fan, and you are deliberately trolling the other members of this forum).

There wasn't a "2 year layoff", though. Duke's record in Gail Goestenkoers' last season in 2006-2007 was 32-2. Most observers thought she would be successful at Texas, especially while she had Mickie DeMoss on staff for those first 3 seasons. She lost damn near every head to head recruiting battle with both Kim Mulkey and Gary Blair. She didn't have any recruiting relationship ties in Texas... that really seems to be a big deal in that state, maybe more than most.

I think it's great that another elite coach is in the conference. Competition makes everyone have to up their game.

For those despairing that this is the sky falling for Tennessee, remember that Kellie is still young at 44 and now with resources to succeed. I don't know whether she will or not. That chapter hasn't been written yet. Assuming she will be permanently crushed by elite coaches is simply not warranted. She should be supported, not talked about like she is trash.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Mulkey has a tough time with LSU. It’s not easy starting over like that. I don’t care who you are.

She will not have any stringent private school requirements at LSU that she had with Baylor. She will excel down there and her recruiting got a WHOLE lot easier. Baton Rouge vs the armpit of Texas in Waco? EASY PEASEY

Except that Pat Summitt was actually 34 years old when Tennessee won their first National Championship in April of 1987. She was born in June of 1952.

Wonder if part of her reasoning is Baylor's negative policies towards LGBT.
Well several
Years ago didn’t LSU have a coach that was dating or Messing around with her players? Pokey Chapman I believe

OOps, thanks for the correction. Point is - Kellie is still young enough to make a lot of noise before she is finished. John Wooden was FIFTY FOUR when he won his first NC.
