Richt is going to offer him avery nice package.
It will be a move down if he takes it. The only reason to take it is to coach where he played.

Why would it be a move down? He would be the DC at Georgia. Though he has that title at Bama, everyone knows that Saban calls the defensive shots, just as L. Kiffin calls the offensive shots at UT.

Pollack thinks it is Smart.

From what I am getting guys I think Georgia has made a very SMART choice on there next DC, nothing 100% but def looks good.

From what I have gotten it is already a done deal. How does that make you feel Georgia fans?

Remember guys I not saying this is 100%, but it looks to be the case.

Pollack is a homer just like Belue. Buck has been saying that Kirby would come home, for weeks.
I think it is a bad career move for him. UGA does not have, and never will have the talent that he will coach at UA.

On the Georgia and Bama boards each side is claiming that Georgia wrapped up a deal with Smart and will be announced the DC on Monday.

If this is true it could have huge recruiting implications.

Would be very interesting...probably wouldn't be able to pull many of Ga's D recruits now, but would any Bama players reconsider? I doubt it at this point.

He's the assistant HC to Bama. Why would he want to leave for a lateral position to GA? Would he just be DC or Assist. HC too?

Its a good grab for Georgia, especially after they seemed to be striking out. However, its hard to think Smart really is the "genious" behind Bama's defense.

He's not an assistant HC, he doesn't really call the defense. It is more of Saban calling the defense like CLK does on Offense. This is a chance for him to get on his own. The assistant head coaches are Joe Pendry and Sun Salseri and associates head coaches are Burton Burns and James Willis (who is likely leaving to join Tubby at TT)

By that loose criteria everything NCAA football related could be tied to UT football. Fact is there are 4 threads about this in the NCAA forum with much more up to date info. Are you too lazy or just too stupid to realize there is more than 1 forum?

Saban runs the Bammer D and UGA has no DC right now. It is good for them and does not hurt Bammer ONE bit.

Please explain how a UGA alum going back to UGA impacts UT.

Bama just won a NC, so it won't slow down their momentum.

UGA still sucks.

What are we all missing here that you know?
