Whatever KJH is doing, as of late is not working. The starters seem to be out of focus. Right now they are not playing with any energy or zip. Florida spanking by 25 points is bad, KJH needs to go back to the drawing board. Right now they are getting out coached and out played. Tonight there was a severe lack of leadership and the team looked lost and in need of direction. The turnovers are killing us. Sadly out bench strength is not what it needs to be. I hope the coaches are working the portal for next year. Why is KJH saving timeouts when the team appears to e losing it?

I have asked about the timeouts since the day she arrived in Knoxville. I think she has the tools to be a great coach but needs to be tougher and hold the girls responsible. The majority of those turnovers is laziness and lack of effort, but her answer she gives when asked is that they will figure it out, well maybe a lap or two around the gym after practice would help them to figure it out

Yep, we will probably find out how successful Kellie will be in the long term over the rest of this year. Can she right the ship and end up with a run in the tournament, or continue the recent struggles? This is a gut check for her and her team. Does she have the ability. Let’s all hope for the best. No matter what, she had better improve recruiting.

Her recruiting indicates that her high water mark will be either this year or next year. More likely this year.

You are what you recruit. The portal is the only wildcard that can change our trajectory at this point.

Turnovers can be improved....use the Rick Barnes method. In practice make a turnover and the player has to run from the playing flood to the top of the arena and back. A few trips of such gets ball security with the player. Florida scored 24 point off the Lady Vols turnovers. Three of the Lady Vols had 14 turnover between them with Horston having 6 of them.

It's more than just turnovers. Though turnovers are certainly a problem. We had 13 turnovers in the first half against Florida and lost the half by 7 points. We had only 5 turnovers in the second half and lost that half by 18 !!

The thing that stood out to me was that Tess, an inexperienced sophomore, was leading the team huddles and not our experienced upper classmen. Keyen was the voice of the team and the seniors and juniors are going to have to step it up in that leadership role

You sure the Rick Barnes method is magical? Because his team has been beset by turnovers at times this year. Turnovers and poor perimeter shooting has plagued them. Sound familiar?

If you could punish away turnovers don't you think they would be practically non existent by now? What coach wouldn't do that if it actually worked? I'm not even sure RB actually does that, especially late in the season when legs are already tired. I think its more of an RB urban legend.

It's all so easy right? Scream yell and frown like Pat and run em like they are being intentionally naughty and they'll go undefeated the rest of the way. Someone email KJH!

I agree with you. Also, if it's not in CKJH's nature to be a screamer/disciplinarian, it will come across as fake. And that is the kiss of death for a coach. Players will see right through it.

There's a wide gulf between Bobby-Knight-mode and total passivity. It doesn't have to be one or the other.

And btw - Kellie has lit up a few referees this season, whether that's her nature or not. Go back and watch the GA game. heh

Nail on the head. Our upperclassmen are unfortunately not leaders.

I didn't mention Bobby Knight and I never said it was an either or situation. If CKJH lights up a referee, maybe that's because it's in her nature. My point, and it seems to have eluded you, was that a coach should stay true to his/her character. Playing a role that's not authentic, will not turn out well.

Hooray for you!!! Someone else besides me is saying this! Sometime ago I said this and was soundly "called out for it"! It is time for stronger control from the staff. If they are afraid to "drop the hammer" on these girls because they might bolt in the new transfer world, then so be it, let them go. We may not win but at least a girl coming in will understand what's expected. I think Kellie is suffering the same thing many parents and school programs do. That is when you were brought up getting your but whooped when you didn't toe the line or suffered any number of punishments at what seemed to be the drop of the hat you now know say "I'm not gonna have these youngsters suffer like I did". Well, you/they turned out pretty good! Do you think Pat didn't "heavy hand" Kellie from time to time? I just wonder why or if Kellie will at some point, and soon adopt a more "heavy hand" on these coddled young ladies..

Im starting to think that poster who stated Rae needs to be our 6th man may have a point. Since shes been put back in the line up our chemistry on offense has sunk. Key is not getting the shots she was before and has become less aggressive on both ends. Start Tess bring rae in as that 6th man and get this ball back rolling Kellie please....

Sometimes tough love is the answer,,young
People are pretty resilient and won't melt
away. Some of them need to toughen up.The real world is reality and people are going to get a few
hard knocks along the way. Coddling people
makes that harder to accept. JMO.

I don't see how this fixes the chemistry, unless Rae plays better off the bench than as a starter. There's so much that she can do on both ends of the court that Tess cannot do. Tennessee is a better team when Rae is playing well, so it seems that the issue is getting her to integrate better with Horston, Key, Dye, Walker and Puckett. Those 6 players will be the ones to decide the rest of Tennessee's season IMO.

Here is a problem Tess is a shooter and other teams now know that. If our low post players are not coming up with the goods why leave Tess open ?. FL decided to gamble after Tess burn them twice close out on her quicker. Also Tess weakness comes into play to and Kellie knows that it like a chess match. Don`t get me wrong other teams in the SEC might have figured out how to play TN ?. As for Key she can`t be too aggressive because without her on the floor this is a whole different team. As for Rae in or out of the starting lineup it don`t matter she has never been a good ball handler, To note and could have been part of the lineup adjustment is Striplin i think some on this board set the bar to high for this young lady and it`s not her fault.

She needs to kick them out of the locker room into the practice facility and take away electronic device. This will get their attention.

I think opponents are watching and using film on Tennessee, and Tennessee is apparently not using its own film as a critique. There has been minimal progression and refinement—not enough attention to the details.

I would have liked to have seen Wynn‘s game developed more this season. Her speed, length, and energy are assets that could have been crafted into a more contributive capacity for this generally lethargic, complacent team. She could be very disruptive on defense, and she pursues the ball and boards as well as anyone else—if not better. Her game lacks minutes and reps and refinement.

Well I’m not smart enough to know the real problem or answer, but I do know doing the same thing that’s not getting results isn’t going to get it done. The coaches and players better get this fixed, already a promising season is looking bleak. I think we got our hopes up and some really went way over on their projection of this team.
