A lot of mock drafts seem to think so. He's really moved up the boards.

Going 6th here...

13th here

8th here

Outside of the lottery but still in the top 20

15th here

19th here

19th here

Jimmy Dykes is in love with the guy. He calls him the best player in college basketball and believes he'll be the first collegiate player taken in the draft. The cynic in me believes that is extremely hyperbolic, but I typically struggle to believe we (Tennessee) have elite things because I've been preprogrammed to believe we aren't allowed to. 😆

I know very little about the NBA. It's truly boring to me. So much so I have turned down GREAT seats mulitple times by season ticket holders to Grizzly games just because I have better things to do. Having said that, lately I've watched a few games and by the product I've seen on the floor compared to the display by DK (I realize he'll be playing against stronger competition in NBA) ....he will be a star in that league. Again...I'm not qualified to make such assessments...that's why it's so much fun to do so.:D

Ha, same! Seeing a Tennessee player called in the Top 10 of the draft would be quite an achievement. Has that ever happened? Houston went 11th.

I do think it helps Knecht that it’s a weak draft class. Mostly foreign players and G-League being discussed at the top from what I gather.

He makes a lot of sense for the Grizzlies, who will likely draft in the 7-10 range.

That would require the Grizzlies F.O. admitting their prior draft mistakes on the wing (Ziaire Williams, David Roody, Jake LaRavia) and they are slow to do that normally...

Knecht will get tons of minutes. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him starting early in his rookie year. He will bring developed skills into the league, especially on the offensive end. I would prefer him going around the 20 range just so he is with a fairly decent team.

This. The draft is supposed to be OK from the middle of the 1st round and later, but it's not good at all in the lottery, and Knecht has a great shot of going top 14.

SEC play has been so great for his value. He's either scoring 25+ or we're getting 90+ and winning by double digits. Pick your poison.

Knecht will be at least a first round pick for sure.

Makes less and less sense every year. Teams don't really let this happen (let a wing/forward with his pedigree slip).

I think he would really have to go lights out in the big tournament to be lottery pick.

Depends on how he finishes the season. I think his performance in some of our bigger games down the stretch and in March could impact his stock considering he is a bit older.

He certainly is playing like a lottery pick right now though.
Age is the biggest thing against him. The NBA is ridiculously focused on age. Lottery picks, much less first-rounders, are more often Freshmen and Sophomores than Juniors and Seniors. Knecht is a 5th-year SR. The main reason he likely came to UT was the fact he projects as a 3 and D guy without the D. Can he show enough effort on defense this year to convince some folks? The NBA is all about the upside. Knecht is pretty much a developed guy in their eyes.

In the mock that has him 6th... he is the only Sr in the lottery. And one of 4 in the whole first round. of 13 lottery picks 7 are freshmen and 2 international 9/13. I find it hilarious one of the comps they have for him is Max Strus.. an undrafted roleplayer for Cleveland. I think the Brent Barry, KCP comps are more in point.

Lastly, any mock that has Zach Edey outside of the first round is smoking crack. Yes, the fact he is not a shooter is a big deal in the modern NBA. However, he is 7'4" 300 lbs. Some team will fall in love with him and draft Vanilla Shaq.

It's not crazy that he would fall out of the 1st. I would never draft him, personally. In the NBA, I wanna run and I wanna spread you out. He doesn't do either.

Definitely if he carries us to elite 8 I’d say around 10-12 range…though I clearly don’t understand the metrics for nba draft. Keon, springer, chandler and Phillips all one and done but guess they are looked at as long term investments b/c all are very nominal in their current contributions? …where in theory I’d guess Dalton is more mature/game ready?

He'll get drafted strictly off his height.

I don't think he'll be an impactful player though

Yeah, you draft Knecht having a much clearer idea of who he is vs. a Keon who you had no idea what he would be

Disagree on Edey. He is the exact same player as last year. He isn’t going first round. If he didn’t declare last year, he isn’t going to be any more attractive to a team this year.

He is a one-dimensional player. He has no jump shot. I would be shocked if a team wasted a valuable first round pick on a guy who has reached even more of his ceiling than Knecht has. Edey isn’t even particularly athletic either to make up for his lack of a jump shot. I just don’t see a place in the NBA for Zach Edey.
