As a College Coach...Bobby Knight is my IDOL!

I have met him several times, played golf with him several times. The man is classy, funny , and straight to the point on everything!

I believe what he says. PERIOD! College Athletics needs more people like him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cat fans...enjoy the Final 4 run this year.............The banner will be down in a year or two!!!!! Make sure you have a great camera....to get a close up of it!!!!!

McCat, how does the number 25 sound to you? I know we're talking about basketball, but I couldn't help myself.

Knight hasn't done anything of significance since 1987.

And anything significant that Cal has done was due to him cheating and wiped off the record. So therefore, besides Conference championships with UMass and Memphis, Cal hasn't ever accomplished anything.

Stated he questioned the integrity of college sports this day and time. Pointed out how Calipari had gotten two schools in trouble and yet is still coaching. He specifically called him out.

it's funny when fans of a school that practically invented cheating in NCAA athletics speak out on others.

He will be Kensucky's Nightmare!!! If you don't think the combination of his reputation and history, this first signing class and the sudden rise of the most penalized Basketball program in NCAA history doesn't have the NCAA's attention you have to be insane. That slimeball has no friends either. If you think people are ratting on Kiffin, just watch what happens to this POS. Kensucky and the Blue smog sold their souls for a fast fix and it's gonna be fun to watch the meltdown!!!!!!

That's about as weak as a UK BB fan saying, "Just wait until Basketball season" after a football loss.

Before or after a National Championship?

How does that compare to the head guy at KY, unless you include vacated crap as significant.

In fact, if actual accomplishment is required to express an opinion, Rich Brooks should never speak publicly on anything of significance. (Unless you count two Music City Bowls and a Liberty Bowl. Never had a winning conference record at KY.)

Just gotta look at the facts...

Everywhere Cal has gone he's left trails of proven shady dealings, vacated wins and programs on probation. Obviously there's no way to substantiate he's doing anything wrong at Kentucky right now, but it's a pretty big leap of faith, at the least, to say he's cleaned up his act.

Kentucky fans, don't be shocked if what happened to UMass and Memphis State happens to you at some point. Yeah, you'll probably make Final Fours, probably starting this year. That's with a guy at the helm is an absolute 100% proven cheater. We'll see where things go.

Knight's overall message is what I agreed with, though. I get sick of the fact that college coaches cheat (which is being accelerated to new levels by the NBA's 19 year old age minimum), and by the time they get caught, they've jumped ship to a higher profile, higher paying gig leaving their old program with the punishment from NCAA. The programs do deserve it, to some extent, since the universities and boosters ought to be aware of how the coaches are running things, but still.

Since the kids playing the game just want to make money, it makes me wish all the actual talent would just do it the legitimate way and go to Europe for a year. Take all the future NBA talent out of the college game and hurry up and make college hoops the garbage product the NCAA is slowly letting it become.

EDIT: Let the mud-slinging continue.

Brian I live in Kentucky and I can't personally believe that a cat fan would spend so much time on a Tennessee chat forum...I believe you really are a VOL fan....

The one year rule is the worst thing that ever happened to college basketball. Forcing guys who don't want to be on a campus in the first place to cool their heels in college for a season is imbecilic. The NBA is the only party that benefits and it makes a sham of the academic part of the equation at the collegiate level. Anyone who had even the faintest knowledge of how the system works knew this would promote impropriety.

Agreed 100% hat. Although I'll admit shady coaches breaking rules to get superstars for a year is something I didn't forsee.

Think the rule is something that will continue to exist?

I don't hear any great groundswell to change it.

It's not even about breaking rules. I am fully confident that Louis Johnson's story about Tim Floyd giving Rodney Guillory cash for delivering OJ Mayo is crap. Mayo went to class and did well in the year he was at SC. That doesn't change the fact he never should have been on a college campus.
