Knight calls out Kentucky's Calipari

The one year rule is the worst thing that ever happened to college basketball. Forcing guys who don't want to be on a campus in the first place to cool their heels in college for a season is imbecilic. The NBA is the only party that benefits and it makes a sham of the academic part of the equation at the collegiate level. Anyone who had even the faintest knowledge of how the system works knew this would promote impropriety.

Spot on.

As much as I like John Wall, I wish this rule would disappear.

Its a burden on college athletics, and a burden on college academics.

This thread is losing steam, but I found a good read that is excellent rebuttal to Knight's tired old schtick:

Thing is, Knight prides himself on being smarter than the media herd he so often chastises. But turns out he is still what he's always been, a bully. Only now he's a washed-up bully.

Before a rapt audience Thursday night, Knight tried to make it sound as though he was the one too good for the game, when actually the game's grown too good for him. The days of coaches abusively treating players and fans and administrators is coming to a close. Ask Mark Mangino, the former football coach at Kansas. He, too, has some time on his hands.

Remember, we're talking about a coach who once put a feminine hygiene product into a player's locker to show the player he wasn't tough enough.
And he's talking about integrity of the game?

That "I'm clean" claim is Knight's tired old defense for his inexcusable acts. And if you beat Bob, you must be a cheater. What other answer could there be? Didn't matter whether it was Joe B. Hall, or Lou Henson, or Denny Crum, or Bill Frieder. Bob has always painted with a broad brush.

Sweet. A KY honk regurgitates some garbage he swallowed in Lexington, the cheating capital of college basketball, and you thought it merited reading. It didn't.

So cheating is better than disciplining your team. Awesome.

Funny that all four guys you mention at the end were all tagged by the 'AA. Go back to kissing Rich Rooks' aging arse. Mediocrity suits people like you.

Why am I not surprised a Kentucky fan would be stupid enough to reference Lou Henson and Bill Freider in a discussion about ethics?

John Clay is a writer who is known for being very critical of UK, but then you'd rather be yourself than be objective.

Objective my ass. That piece had nothing objective in it. I won't waste the time to obliterate it or you. It was a hackjob piece of garbage becase he called KY's savior the cheater that he is. RMK doesn't give a shat about your technicalities. Anyone who genuinely believes that Cal had no idea about Dozier and Rose is an idiot.

I think the NCAA has a selective policy on who they punish. UK basketball, and they have been up Kiffins butt for a year with nothing really.
Corey Maghette(SP) played for Duke Final Four, championship game, he admitted, finally that he
had received money from an agent.....thus Duke should have to forfeit the wins,Final Four banner etc. Thats been over 10 yrs ago, never closed case as far as I know, but no punishment for Duke or Coach K.
So, Bobby Knight should ask, why the hell is is buddy coaching at Duke.

I assume that was your effort to tell me that idiotic piece was somehow objective.

About as objective as you are.

I'm not here to change your mind or debate anybody. In all my years of Internet debate on sports, I've never seen a rival fan's opinion changed.

I have, however, seen a lot of asshattery. There's a ton of that going on these days.

I originally came to VN because it was a pretty friendly place to opposing fans.

Now, not so much.

There's the ignore function... Which you may find yourself using a lot.

Us old stalwarts of VN tend to be pretty welcoming of opposing fans. You don't have to debate everyone.\

EDIT: Calipari is still a punk and a cheater :)

In all honesty, do you expect warm welcomes on a "rival" fan base's message board?

I'm upset.

Now, did you read the piece of trash you posted. Juxtapose that with your comment that the author is known to beat down KY. Finally, imagine how absurd those two positions look.

There's a big difference between a warm welcome and not being a jackass just for the sake of it. i don't "expect" anything, but it would be courteous to show a little more respect after nearly 3,000 posts.

When I was an Administrator at WCN, I went to bat for many of you who posted there because there was some excellent conversation between the two fanbases. You guys won't know how I vouched for some of you in the mod forums in those days.
