Sam and Andy’s has probably been using the same flat top for years, so it’s going to be pretty well seasoned, making a better than average burger.

That said, it’s not Stock and Barrell

I think he's referring to total bill after you get a burger and fries, soft drink, taxes, and tip. I don't think he meant just the burger.

After seeing all of Bigdaddy’s posts about Sam and Andy’s burgers, I finally went and tried one. I will say they make very good burgers and the burger itself probably is on par with Stock and Barrel. I don’t think the toppings are on the same level (clearly) which is what keeps them on different levels. Still, Sam and Andy’s makes a surprisingly good burger.

Get it to go if you don’t like tipping.

Theres only one item on the menu that will cost close to 20 dollars, and do you really need a Big Nasty? Does anybody?

It's more the fact I want the poor people to get paid.

Tipping as a practice is dumb, but it's not going to go away anytime soon. Until it's replaced, tip your to go people.

I suppose it would depend on the establishment. If it's Louis or Pizza Palace in Knoxvegas they deliver your order to your car if you prefer, just to name a couple

If they bring it out to my car, take payment and generally make it super simple, then sure.

However, there is no curbside at S&B.

Also, To Go specific people make more per hour than a standard restaurant server, at least at every reputable joint I worked at.

I tip for service. To go offers no service. If that was the case you would tip the kid working behind the counter at burger king.

Tipping for to-go orders is iffy, to me. I usually just add $2-5... No bussing tables, filling drinks, etc. Adding 20% is nonsense.

Generally, the person who puts together your to-go order does an amount of service for you in order for you to be able to bring your food home. They generally are checking to make sure everything is correct, organized, and prepared at the time they explained to you. There are many places where there isn't a to-go specialist, so the work is done by a bartender. It's plausible in that scenario that the bartender is taking time away from their work to get the to-go order together and in order with everything necessary.

Just saying that there are definitely situations in which tipping the person who did work for you is appropriate.
