We went to Cru in Turkey Creek last weekend, and it has just not been very good the past couple of visits. When your soup appetizer is the highlight of your meal, it's probably not a great dinner. It feels like they are relying more on the wine/bar scene and neglecting the food a bit.

My family has taken to either eating at Nama or getting sushi to go from Kabuki.
Anyone tried the new Chesapeake's on Parkside Dr? I hear they have a raw bar and grill.
It felt like a $20 meal for which I paid $27
Fresh seafood is expensive in Tennessee. Generally, it costs about as much per pound as USDA Prime beef. If you go to Shrimp Dock for fish and cook your own meal, it will cost you $15+ pp. Honestly, I think a lot of restaurant food is quite fairly priced.
Now, wine/liquor? That's another story. You probably paid as much for a glass of that Meiomi as they paid for the bottle.
For a great Red wine, try Prisoner
It is a very good red blend. At $40 retail, not your every day sipper, though!
I find Dreaming Tree Crush to be a nice, affordable blend.
Another great Pinot, if you can find it, is Diora. Around $20-25 a bottle at stores, but definitely worthwhile
There was a small local chain that was in business when I was at UT. The owner was spending his business income on trips to Florida for himself and cute waitresses that liked to do cocaine with him. Most of the employees paychecks were bouncing and they were told to keep working, that the money would be in there the next pay period. That happened on and off for a few months until the business owner was arrested.Chatted with a friend from WNML about the Bourbon Bird spots. He said that they paid up front for ad packages for football then also basketball. They had their remotes that were supposed to host after their original opening date of September moved to The Alley, which I'm sure most people have noticed has closed. His assumption is that they had some connection in ownership. Wouldn't shock me since there was some level of ownership connection between The Alley and Hurricane's, the former tenant of the Bourbon Bird building. He said he's noticed that work on the building has halted twice. Once around October and once again around January. I don't get to Turkey Creek very often to investigate for myself.
