Kourtney Dunbar opens season.

Dunbar has hit 41 threes this year although she has played inside most of the season. She still may match the 54 she had last season when she was strictly a perimeter player.

I for one can't hardly wait for those three girls to get here & start their playing careers for UT. Dunbar sounds to be a beast on the court & that's a good thing.

Thanks for keeping track of our signees' stats. Unfortunately, some of the shooting stats for Edwardsville & Dunbar are screwed up on that website. The percentages for their players range from improbable to impossible. Note that in the listed league stats, Dunbar's apparently hit 106% of her 2-pt. attempts.

Here are the actual stats for Dunbar.

STL High School Sports | Sport Stats | Basketball - Girls

The thing to notice about her is that she is a legitimate 40 percent three point shooter. She has carried this average over two seasons and is the major reason everyone started noticing her. That is certainly gonna be her major role at Tennessee. She is also a good rebounder.

Yes, that's the website I was referencing. The FG shooting numbers, at least for 2-pointers, are off. They show Dunbar hitting 86% of her 2-point shots, another player 120%, and only one player under 58%.

It appears that the overall stats are skewed by the erroneous league stats.

Her major role with Tennessee will be the three point shot. I think that stat on her around 40 percent for her junior and senior year is accurate. If she can hit that percentage for us will be something we haven't had since Bjorklund.

An early look at next seasons Depth Chart:

Point Guard: Carter, Massengale, Reynolds, Middleton.
Wing Guard:Tucker, Nared, Middleton, Carter
Center:Harrison, Russell
Wing Forward: Burdick, Jones, Nared,Dunbar
Power Forward:Graves, Burdick, Moore

Possibly could still add another player in April.

Who would your starting five be? Would you keep Carter at the one and move Ariel to the two guard ? Just to work Tucker back in the rhythm of the game.

I think Carter is the starting point guard and Massengale is the backup. I know that want be popular, but that is how I see it just based on results.
The two seems to belong to Tucker if she is ready.
The problem is Middleton is a great guard needs to play. Gonna be interesting for Holly this is gonna be the most talent she has worked with. She will have to get it right because expectations will be high. Nared at the three over Burdick and Jones they better work hard if they want to beat her out of that position.
I am expecting Russell to get a ton of playing time as well if she works hard gets stronger. Jordan Reynolds also gonna be better team will be loaded Holly has to win a lot of games next season.

PG-Carter hers to lose
SG-Tucker great shooter and defender
C-Russell should be ready to start
PF-Harrison Could be tough to contain if Russell is ready to start.
WF-Burdick give her the edge could easily be Nared even Jones.
Rotation: Massengale, Nared, Jones, Middleton, Graves.

I don't know how Reynolds, Moore, Dunbar fit in may need to redshirt somebody.

I don't think Ariel or Burdick will have any trouble getting playing time as Seniors. I do agree I like Carter at the point.

Yes I agree but if you divide the 11 players that should play by 200 you get 18 minutes so somebody's minutes will suffer. The team has been playing better with select players getting over thirty. It is Holly's problem and when you have three players coming in like Tucker, Nared, and Middleton you wonder just how she will pull it off and keep everybody happy.

I think the new players will/should "suffer" with less playing time. That's how it should be with a good program. Seniors lead. Freshman learn.

That might be the way it turns out but when you have a player that average 29 ppg and 14 rebounds and shot 53 percent from the field and 80 percent from the line. You want her to play if she can play at the same level no matter what class she is in.
The problem with freshmen is always defense and that is why Burdick and Massengale should get the edge for minutes.
I do expect there will be a transition period just like Mercedes. I look for her to explode on the scene next season.

I don't see Graves not starting at PF next year even though her numbers aren't productive as last year. She plays hard and she gives the team off rebounds. I think Mercedes comes off the bench again next year just like Izzy did with Johnson and Baugh. Mercedes and Izzy will probably split minutes, but Mercedes will probably play more unless Izzy manages her fouls. I would still start Ariel at the two guard. Only because she started finding her three point shot this year. Her and Carter would be a nice combo. If Jas would get her handles under control I would easily start her over Burdick. Overall she's a better defensive player, better jump shooter, and is not afraid to take it to the rim. Am I the only one that sees the potential in Nia. Like she will be pushed further down the bench and become another Kamiko. In the sense of she'll finally gets a chance her senior year and you're left to wonder what the heck why didn't we play her two years ago. So I would say:

PG- Carter
Reynolds
SG-Ariel
Tucker
W- Burdick
Nared
PF- B
Jones
C- Izzy
Mercedes
