Kourtney Dunbar opens season.

AMB 3096 and your 14 posts I could write that hopefully your posts will be more positive because you "have not improved one bit," perhaps "you can quit" before you "regress even further" because the other boarders will "read you less than" those written by the UConn Trolls.

I have enjoyed AMB's posts so far; they show good basketball knowledge and when they contain criticism, it's not unfairly negative towards the staff or players.

Cierra has been my favorite player on the team the last couple of years, but it's clear that she hasn't played anywhere near the level where we hoped she would this year, or even where she was last year. She's had a handful of good offensive games this year, and a few more good defensive performances, but in other games she's been a complete no-show. I doubt she would disagree with that assessment. As fans, let's all hope she can improve on that, not just next year, but in the near future!

Go Lady Vols!

P.S.-How does our best player not even make honorable mention ALL SEC? She wasn't even the top three point guards in the league.

Because she missed the whole conference season. If she stayed at her pace before she was hurt, she would have for sure been at least 2nd team.

Carter has been a good backup and is a much better defender, but she isn't as much of a scoring threat nor is she as good at passing as Ariel is. I haven't looked at the stats, but my guess is that as a team, Tennessee's assists per game have gone way down since Ariel got hurt.

Tennessee's post-Ariel run had as much to do with Carter as it did with Simmons finding her groove after Ariel got hurt and either Bashaara or Burdick functioning as the 3rd scoring threat behind Simmons and Harrison. If Simmons continued her funk after Massengale's injury, then Tennessee would not be where they are today.

If Ariel can come back for the tournament and backup either Simmons or Carter, then Tennessee will be a much stronger team.

Thanks! I'm just not good at doling out praise if I don't mean it.

I think Cierra has by far the most natural ability on the team, and it's maddening that she doesn't have the mental fortitude or consistency to bring out her best on the biggest stages. She rebounds hard, but looks like she's in panic mode in most of the games when shooting unless she's made her first few shots. Her lack of production in big games is a big reason why Tennessee had to fight for a #1 instead of coasting through the season behind UConn.

No, she played in seven conference games which was almost half the season. If she's our best player she at least gets 2nd team or honorable mention. She is not even in the top three of point guards in the league. I do agree with most of the rest of what you said but you left out big factor and that is Reynolds.

I think Cierra is a very physical player. She is a natural rebounder and defensive player. She tries to go one on one too much instead of working on her positioning and spacing. She is only a sophomore and might grow in her abilities.

I read a news story about the ladies posteed maybe 24 hopes ago that quoted Holly as saying ariel might be out at least the first two games of the tournament. Who knows we might have her back for the toughest part of it. I hope we do

I saw that too, but I don't think anyone knows for sure. My personal opinion, based on how things have played out so far, is that Ariel is done for the season. On the bright side, her injury has allowed Carter and Reynolds to really blossom as Tennessee's PGs of the Future.

She played five full conference games (Notre Date was OOC) and was hurt in the first half of the 6th game. That's roughly 1/3 of the conference games, excluding the tournament. She could have been averaging 25 pts a game prior to her injury, and she wouldn't have gotten the All Conference nod because she missed too much of the season and probably didn't even qualify for consideration.

I agree that Reynolds will be a big factor for Tennessee's post season run. She was terrific in the SEC tournament!

Yes, that's correct. But, for example if Simmons had been hurt in the sixth game she still would have made All Conference 2nd team at least in my opinion. But I still like her as a 3 point shooter. Very solid there. Reynolds, I see her as the starting point guard next year. She is a gem. Very underrated. Great evaluation and pick-up by Holly.

Alex Middleton wins three point women's title. Loses by one point to men's champion for overall title 20 to 19.

Kortney Dunbar goes to the prom.
