I've posted it here multiple times, but here's the Reader's Digest version. Dickey was at Stallings house to offer him the Tennessee job after Kevin O'Neill left. The parties had agreed in principle to a deal and were working on the logistics of Stallings telling his Illinois State team he was leaving and flying to Knoxville for an introductory press conference. At that point, Tim Floyd called Doug Dickey. Instead of telling Floyd (who was simply using UT to drive up the price on his raise at Iowa State) that he had already found his coach, Dickey went into another room in Stallings' house and had a long conversation. That enraged Stallings and killed the deal. That's why he hates Tennessee so much.what's the story?
