Kwame Geathers '09 OT

I think the pull is his family ties. If Im not mistaken he has family members who have played at UGA. Unless Im thinking of someone, or somewhere else.

Correct. He currently has a brother at USCjr as well. He was committed to UGA then switched to USCjr after prep school.

Thanks, I thought I read that somewhere. I do agree, ties aside, I would want to play for UT's current D coaches.

Pros
Great Size
Good Motor
Reestablishes the LOS well
Surprisingly quick off the ball
Nasty
Was athletic enough to play some DE in High School
Doesn't hurt that he plays DT

Cons
Doesn't play with great leverage
Didn't move side to side very well
Some questions about his grades
I don't know what kind of competition he was playing against but it didn't look very good
Sounds like a textbook Nosetackle.

dang it pennvol you definitely stole my avatar... anyway apparently geathers is signing on friday. i think its a toss up.

is there any other news on his academic eligibility? I have a few posts where people think this may be an issue. In other words, what are the odds that we sign him that he will be able to suit up?

Him playing next season are right now 50/50 at best. It seems though he has a better shot to get in than Eric Gordon does right now. Both still have work to do, but Eric has more from what I know.

hubbs said gordon didnt score all that low on the act but seems to think he has a chance to be eligable.

Is this guy just waiting to see where he will qualify to play? UGA straight up ignored him and left him for the dead. If I was his parents I would tell them to get lost especially since there are family connections present. Isnt UT closer anyway to home? UCF is a joke trust me I went to school there. When they play other state schools they hang 60 on them constantly. Why hasnt this guy commited because its a no brainer IMO.

Don't know if it has been said, but his dad has said that Kwame will announce on Friday between 1-2 pm.

why is this guy announcing like it's some big surprise or as if every UGA, UT, UCF fan is on the edge of their seat waiting on his decision? Wherever he goes it won't be much of a loss for the other two schools anyway

Maybe for UT and UGA (though we do need linemen), but i'm sure UCF would like to pull him in a bad way.

I'm not sure what's up with UGA. If they wanted this kid they should have offered him a long time ago. I think they just don't want us to have him.

Like I said if I was his parents I would be offended considering the family history at that school. I cant believe they are even still getting looked at by the Gaether family. Plus he wont play any there this fall but has a real possiblity of PT at UT soon. Im just wandering if this is another one of those assistant coach color scenerios. I hope it isnt because this kid has more of a chance to go pro with orgeron than almost any other def line coach in college.

Mike Farrell says that Offensive/defensive tackle Kwame Geathers now has a written offer from Georgia. The Bulldogs decided to send him a written tender after his visit this past weekend to see Tennessee. Also that he will likely have to go to prep school no matter who he commits to on Friday.

He's likely headed to UGA. All he needed was an offer. Like has been said before though, he is also likely headed to prep school or JuCo although I'd put the likelihood much higher than 50%. I'd say there is about an 80% chance he will need help getting qualified.

Sab, what do you know that would push his chances from 50% to 80%? why not 100%?

Doesn't it seem shady of Richt to not offer this kid until we show interest...

I know that's part of the game but I think(and I'm really trying to not be a UT homer) if I were Geathers that would piss me off more than it would excite me
