Teaching moment that last possession of the first half.
Prolly not. Hype has a roadblock in his mind with clock management in these situations and I’ve come to terms with it after a large sampling so I doubt he has much to share…

The taste of their salty tears is so refreshing. I love listening to these guys. Someone pull up last years post game interview. Hilarious!

He visibly hated not getting that play off in time. It will be addressed and coached. Not sure what you mean by “roadblock”. His clock management has been exemplary since hire.

Agree to disagree. In situations where we need to move it quickly into scoring positions these teaching moments seem to be the norm. Love coach, just my opinion

More recently we let 20 seconds roll off against Arkansas after a first down with 2 timeouts in pocket which cost us…

With a first year starter at quarterback. Sure that had nothing to do with it. Same as last night.

From his mouth not mine….

“In hindsight, yep, for sure,” Heupel said when asked if he should have taken a timeout after Thornton’s catch. “As I recognized that we weren’t immediately ready, thought about going to a timeout, then I thought we were ready to get the ball off in the next couple seconds.

Because a veteran QB like Hooker showed you could and have that timeout in your back pocket so the rushing game doesn’t get taken out of the equation. That’s why these are teaching moments. If Nico clocks the ball instead of scrambling, there’s significant time. Same with pulling a Milton last play against Arkansas. High odds future similar situations are played differently. Heupel rides and dies with his QB. Lot of winning coaches follow the same formula.

We have problems. Ky was without TEN starters by end of game. A good team would have embarrassed them. We're not that good team....getting exposed every game now in some way.
I don't know if I'd say they aren't a good team. I think they are a struggling team offensively. If a few more balls are caught in the last two games, we easily blow out Alabama and repeat that against this Kentucky team. There's been at least 20 points dropped in each game the last couple of weeks.

A pity UK fans, and perhaps some of our Vols fans as well, can't give credit where it's due. First off, I'm tempted to say we didn't play a football game. It looked more like flag-ball. Least the refs threw them at both teams this time.

Take 1: We beat a depleted team playing a significant number of their backups.
Take 2: Said team didn't come to Neyland to hear whispers of UT playoff chances. They came to hear UT scream, "Oh sheet!"
Take 3: The patchwork Wildcats played like warriors born against a superior enemy, but were predictably defeated.

We left 23 points on the field with dropped TD passes and missed FGs, but still, hats off in respects to the feline fellows who manned the gate with courage and spirit. They were out manned, outgunned, and far from home. But what impressed me more, dignified in defeat. They lingered a bit on field and amicably congratulated and held brief chats with our guys. This was college football, the way it was meant to be.
Well said, Woodsman. Most of them won’t be, but UK fans should feel pretty good about this one, imo. Their team has been through a meat grinder and yet they showed no quit yesterday. Tell those fans at 7:00 PM yesterday, “Hey, if you were to lose but cover, have a halftime lead, and score more points against Tennessee than Alabama did, would you take that?” they woulda jumped at the chance.

If we are going to talk missed opportunities on our side, we have to think about Kentucky's as well. Going for it on 4th down on there first drive, our 2 interception killing drives, losing their starting QB. Just playing devils advocate here, but saying we should have killed them is just wrong I think. Vols won, we move on. Better team won despite the flaws.
Lol. Yeah whatever. Most of their miscues and issues came from things we did. We knocked their QB out. We have a killer defense that made plays against an inferior offense. Our miscues were far more self inflicting than theirs were.

That's what almost everyone is not looking at. We beat a rag tag team and struggled to do it. A good team won't struggle. It's a struggle every game.

This guy is so immature. Can't even be complimentary about one of the greatest stadiums in the entire country. I've been to Kentucky games in Kentucky and I actually think they have a nice Stadium even though it's not very big. I can't stand Kentucky fans but I can compliment them where it's necessary. This guy is a complete ass clown.
Are you truly offended by a representative of an opposing fanbase standing in Neyland stadium and saying “Welcome to hell”? It makes me smile. I want them to feel that way lol. Dude’s just a heel, not really trying to be a serious reporter imo. I love how much he hates us.

6-1 isn’t a good team?

In what world do you live in? 😂

We're teetering on the edge in both directions.

We haven't gotten out of the 20's on offense in SEC play. We have trouble hitting the long ball and we give up too many sacks/pressures.

The defense isn't as stifling as we want to believe though it's still a good defense. Much better than the past few years for sure. We couldn't get off the field vs Ark though we were bend but don't break. We were on pins and needles Florida didn't go for 2 after taking it down the field on their last drive. Kentucky had the 2nd most yards their entire season on offense. We make opportune plays and hold the other team to field goals.

The kicking game is normally reliable but it was atrocious.

There is normally a bit of delusion on both sides. Also, as mentioned you can't count a missed FG and missed TD opportunity on the same drive as 9/10 points. Both teams missed some opportunities. We were the better team and the home field advantage helped.
