I think Kyle likes being "The Villain." I dont think he is trying to get into Jr.'s head, I think he just likes reminding Rick Hendrick and everybody else in NASCAR that Hendrick let him go and hired Jr.
you being the astounding artist you are Sab should know the importance in getting names right. Sam Ash died in the '50s, leaving only his music stores behind. Sam Bass painted the guitar Busch smashed and was taking pictures with Busch afterward, and is quoted as saying something along the lines of "in the spirit of rock n roll as someone who loves rock n roll, Busch put on a show". Get a clue. He's just having a good time. Heaven forbid someone do something exciting in auto racing.
also a guitar is far less unique than a grandfather clock, a carved bear, championship belt (a la boxing) or that shotgun they at least used to give away in Texas.
This marks the 29th such trophy the artist has created for the 1.333-mile Tennessee track, continuing a tradition that began when Jack Sprague carried home the first one in June of 2002. In the years since, the list of drivers who have earned the most sought-after musical instrument in motorsports has grown to include: Carl Edwards, Dario Franchitti, Clint Bowyer, Scott Dixon, Kevin Harvick, Tony Kanaan, and Travis Kvapil, to name just a few.
This truly one-of-a-kind trophy has come to symbolize racing in Music City.
In fact, Sports Illustrated described it as one of the Top 10 coolest trophies in all of sports. This years design is perhaps the most dynamic yet.
"The Sam Bass designed Gibson Les Paul Trophy Guitar is the trademark of the Nashville Superspeedway," says the tracks Director of Public Relations, Sean Dozier. "The guitar is instantly recognized around the country as one of the most coveted trophies in NASCAR."
if the guy that designed said he didn't have a problem, why should anyone else? Rockers shatter guitars all the time. Jeff Jarrett made a living doing it, so did the Honky Tonk Man. Would you rather him just store it in a useless shed somewhere or make something exciting out of it. It created even more buzz for NASCAR, a sport that is going downhill fast. Props to him. Calling him a douchebag for having fun is more in line for a 68 year old. Are you 68?
oooh, good call there. I'm sure Nashville Speedway is going to downplay their trophy. Great quote there.
GLADEVILLE, Tenn. -- Nashville Superspeedway works the Music City angle whenever possible, and that goes all the way down to the trophy. Everyone who races there and wins takes home a Gibson guitar designed by Sam Bass.
Helio Castroneves, who will start on the pole Saturday night for the Firestone Indy 200, wants to add one to his collection. It hasn't been easy seeing the guitar won by former Penske teammate Gil de Ferran in 2003.
"I know I can drive a car. I know I can dance. I don't think I can play guitar. I don't care. I'll learn maybe if I can win this," Castroneves said.
Castroneves will have a good chance at winning a guitar because he will start from the pole on a track where passing is difficult.
"The only thing I can promise is I'm going to do my best, my team's going to do their best," he said.
Not if Danica Patrick has anything to say about it. She will start beside Castroneves on the front row, and the woman who made history by winning in Japan wants nothing more than to add a second trophy to her display case. And yes, a guitar would be special.
"It's more of a unique thing to display, as well, you know," Patrick said. "I'd like to think I'd get a cool case for something like that. 'Do you know a rock star? No, I won at Nashville.' Yeah, it's cool to have different kinds of trophies to have around."
When I saw that guitar in the drivers meeting, I knew I wanted it real bad, said racing legend Jack Sprague, who won the trophy at Nashville Superspeedway in 2002. We can only guess how many strummed a few bars of Sweet Home Alabama in the victory lane, writes Pete McEntegart of SI.com.
maybe if you look further it will help you...
"it's called reading. Top to bottom, left to right. Group words together as a sentence. Take Tylenol for any headaches, Midol for any cramps."
Sam Bass is always in victory lane at Nashville and always takes pictures with the winner, so I don't see your point there.
He didn't say that he didn't have a problem with it. He said he was stunned and then politely finished the interview. If he were to cause a stink right there when being interviewed, it would have sunk him right down to Kyle's level.
And I never called him a douchebag. Don't misquote me to try and make a point. I said it was a douche move and it was.
Seems you're the one struggling with the reading bit.
Not sure how you can read that any other way. It totally negates your point of him being in victory lane with the winner.
maybe the fact that you fail to completely grasp EVERYTHING that Bass quoted. It was a lot more than he was just stunned. But since that makes your weak argument, it's all you push.
Again, what else was he going to say? That little punk destroyed in seconds what I have been working for months on!" Like I said, that would just lower him to Kyle's level. He never said he was okay with it. He said he was stunned. Not sure how you can read that any other way.
Why do you fail to address my points and resort to attacking me personally? Clearly a sign that you are outmatched and not confident in your position anymore.
