To the group that likes to claim the staff can’t close:
More and more stories are coming out about our recruits being offered the bag at the last minute from other schools but they stuck with their commitment to UT based on the relationships that had been built over the past few years. It is apparent that is the way our staff goes about recruiting. They identify their targets early, build relationships and the kids typically commit for the right reasons and hold firm to their commitments. I’d say having drama free signing days like we’ve had with CJH and crew the past few years is in fact the staff closing.
Hoping for a big day,
Huh? Maybe I was misinformed but I thought any coach with a show cause was essentially suspended from coaching for however long the penalty wasNo he can coach while he’s under a show-cause. He may be suspended for a year, although that’s unlikely, but a show-cause penalty doesn’t mean that a coach can not be hired/retained during that period of time.
No. A show cause just means that you have to “show cause” to the NCAA why you are hiring/retaining the coach and that you believe he has or will operate under the rules. The NCAA can penalize the school (fine, scholarship reductions, recruiting restrictions) but a show case doesn’t mean that a coach cannot be hired/retained if they are hit with a show cause penalty.Huh? The penalty would be a bowl ban most likely and no school would come near that till the penalty is over…No. A show cause just means that you have to “show cause” to the NCAA why you are hiring/retaining the coach and that you believe he has or will operate under the rules. He can be hired or retained, but it would be stupid because the NCAA would first have to approve the hire or retention and then the university would be subject to all the other penalties handed down for the length of the show cause. This, while it’s “possible”, it’s 99.99999999999% never going to happen. The guy becomes unhireable. No he can coach while he’s under a show-cause. Depends on who the coach is and how serious the transgressions were. I don’t think for a second that the NCAA, especially in this day and age, would hammer Michigan so severely that they would feel the need to cut ties with Harbaugh. The penalty would be a bowl ban most likely and no school would come near that till the penalty is over…
Interesting thing here is UT investigated and admitted everything. Michigan is denying and finger pointing at other teams.Just our fans imagining the NCAA would treat Michigan like they would UT. Silly, naive Vol fans.
