I think a lot of people misunderstand what an RPO offense is. RPO doesn't need the qb to run at all. It is similar to a spread option were the qb keeps and runs based on the DE. But they are reading other cues, and if the read indicates not to hand off then the qb is throwing the ball to the read, not running. Tom Brady can (and probably does) run some RPO style plays.I really like this player. I'm not an expert, but his skill set seems to fit more of a spread, RPO offense.
With that being said....If he can stand in the pocket, with the ability to move if necessary.....get him.
I believe this guy is the backup to Taulia. I think we take 2 QB's in this class because WE HAVE TO...and I believe we also persue another transfer next year. I hope not, but it is very possible that we could be left with just Shrout and walk-on's at the end of season. I believe McBride is gone no matter what; and, if Chryst wins the job and starts all season, JG is gone as well.decommitted from Kansas
The Vols just sent him an official offer letter this morning — schools can begin doing that on Aug. 1, although there's still nothing binding at all about an "official, written offer" — and I think Tennessee still has been in contact with him at least a little bit, so he's still on the Vols' radar. I think Taulia Tagovailoa still might be a higher priority, but LeGendre is at least a name to keep in mind.
Chryst is a one year guy. It would make no sense for JG to leave. He would have to sit out wherever he goes, so he would be risking losing 2 years to avoid losing 1 year. makes no sense.I believe this guy is the backup to Taulia. I'm not saying it's going to happen, but it's a VERY REAL POSSIBILITY that we could be left with just one scholarship QB after the season ends. As I said, I believe we take two this class, and persue a grad transfer before next season.
I've been wrong many times before, but...
So, you TRULY believe that after sitting out a redshirt season (a season that JG has talked about extensively, as being the hardest thing ever on him), then sitting behind Dormandy a few games last year (and we, and the whole world, saw how much he liked that!), and now sitting again for a whole season behind someone else, you truly believe he sticks around?!?! Maybe you're right.Chryst is a one year guy. It would make no sense for JG to leave. And Foles/Wentz weren’t zackly 500 yard rushers for the Eagles...and RPO became a buzzword based off their offense’s success.I think a lot of people misunderstand what an RPO offense is. unless he graduates early, which is possible. he would sit this year behind Chryst, transfer, sit another year, and then maybe play as a senior somewhere else. You make a great point, and it makes way more sense, I agree, and I hope you're right...but, you're not. Again, do you TRULY believe JG stands on the sidelines, behind ANOTHER guy, for ANOTHER season, and stays? As I said, I hope you're right and I'm completely wrong, but I don't see it happening.unless he graduates early, which is possible. he would sit this year behind Chryst, transfer, sit another year, and then maybe play as a senior somewhere else.
does that make sense to you?
I believe JG will graduate in June 2019, so he won't have to sit out and will still have 2 years left.
Because Carson Wentz is a younger, faster, stronger armed Aaron Rodgers. Wentz is always buying time while scrambling and keeping his eyes down field to find the open man, just like Rodgers. Only runs when he has too and/or can get the first down. Probably runs a little too much considering the injury last year. But as an Eagle fan, I gotta love his competitive driveAnd Foles/Wentz weren’t zackly 500 yard rushers for the Eagles...and RPO became a buzzword based off their offense’s success.
I think is point is that rpo doesn't involve the qb running like a lot of people assume. It's a handoff/pass based on reading a specific defender.Because Carson Wentz is a younger, faster, stronger armed Aaron Rodgers. after being all types of wrong on what our QBs will do about transfers (sherion jones), I don't truly believe anything. just pointing out what makes sense to me.You make a great point, and it makes way more sense, I agree, and I hope you're right...but, you're not.
