The only huge difference between the two teams is SC is better in the post with taller players. If we can rebound with them come up even in that category we have a chance to upset them. We will need to shoot about 45 percent from the field, hit our free throws and limit our turnovers to 10 or less. If all this happens we'll win this game.

I agree. I think our guards will play better, a sagging matchup zone sounds good this game. Let's go Carter, Reynolds, Ariel, Middleton, and Nared get to the basket, run when we can, knock down open shots, shoot the ball well then the rebounding issue becomes moot and anytime they go big we press. Lady Vols by 5, free throws, we get to the line this game.

All Lady Vols must be in attack mode. SC is gonna come out and hit us in the mouth, I say we hit em in the mouth first, get to the rim.

I'm honestly just not that impressed with South Carolina, and I'm not saying that because I'm wearing orange colored glasses. I think USC has a very, very good team, but are they impossible for Tennessee to beat? Not at all. They have home court advantage and they are taller, but I'm not convinced their players are better. I think there is a good chance that they will win, especially since the Lady Vols are missing Izzy and the game is in South Carolina, but I won't count Tennessee out. USC has an advantage, but not an overwhelming one.

I agree but you have to play at a certain level to beat a team like them at their home. If we play to the level I suggested I think we win. I think were about even in talent their big advantage seems to be on the boards so we have to negate that and shoot the ball around 45 percent and not turn it over.

Two things I think will impact game:
1) Do we hit our outside shots and layups
2) How the game is officiated

Your suggestions related to things we can control to a certain extent. Officiating we can't control. Shooting accuracy frequently seems to be hot games and cold games. I don't know if that is a controllable issue.

Just Go Lady Vols!

I think anyone can get hot for a game and pull an upset especially with teams with equal talent. Tennessee has the personnel to do just that even without Izzy. I give it to us for several reasons that are not a sure thing. It's a home game....it's a game we feel we have to win to redeem ourselves after the UCONN loss....it's almost a sure SEC title with a win ( minus a loss against Kentucky or Miss. St. )....it will be a sold out loud crowd. That said....there is a real possibility that Tennessee could win. I never count a game of this magnitude a sure thing. They are too many things to take into consideration. Good luck guys....it's gonna be tough on both teams. No give me here !

If Tennessee plays like they did against Notre Same, minus the defensive miscues, we have a good chance of winning. Do not settle for jump shots. Put pressure on their bigs. Switch defenses and do not play primarily zone. Many teams have made that mistake of being passive and falling back in a zone. Everything you do against SC must be aggressive. UConn was undersized, but their man to man defensive pressure was outstanding. We must play defense like we want to win this game and be knock down shots. We really need Graves to show up and Massengale to be hot from outside.

against south carolina, but we should have played a lot more zone against notre dame, which consistently kills us with their passing and back-door cuts. You've got to know who you are playing.

Wifey just made me lol. She came in saying how cold it is in the house(73 degrees F) while walking around still in her nightie with bare legs on a wood floor. when I pointed out that fact, she looks down and says,, "oh!" spilt my coffee laffing @ her...

73 feels a lot warmer than my home does right now.

Uconn played like a box in one. It was like a sagging zone with Jefferson face guarding Mitchell. They weren't playing an aggressive man to man, they weren't even close to anyone outside the three point line unless it was Mitchell. They gave them the three all night long.

Stats do not a game make. I believe that the Lady Vols are in an us versus the world situation. No one gives them a chance, but stats are not a measurement of heart and desire. I believe that the Lady Vols will play better individually without Izzy because they no longer have their major go to star. It is now every player's responsibility to step up their game and I believe they will.
