Lady Vols assistant Jolette Law leaving for South Carolina

If an assistant coach leaves, can an incoming freshman decide not to come? Given the playing time available, I would be shocked if any of the recruits thought about not coming.

What is the process for hiring an assistant? Does Holly make the final decision? If Lawson was interested, would you really consider her? Does she have any coaching experience?
Did Holly have coaching experience when Pat gave her a shot? She would be an assistant not the head coach and she has played for a lot of the best coaches to ever coached the sport! If she calls and says she wants to position you have to look at hiring her for it!

Yes, they can decide not to come, but since they have signed a letter of intent, they would have to sit out a year. So, there is almost no chance of that happening, imo

Kara lawson would be a great pick only because she is recognizable and lets be honest the way you fans call for holly job. I can see why law left to a more secure job

Kara is well-spoken, knows Tennessee, loves basketball, and can break down and analyze with the best! But I don't imagine she is ready to hang up the uniform yet.

law was really instrumental in signing these players ,but I don't think it will have a barring on the current class the assistant can bring them to the wale but the coach makes them drink. Now amira collins picked lady vols because of law, SO that will be interesting

I like your thinking! Adding her almost guarantees us Hunt for sure (unless she no longer wants to play for her mom) and if we land Nicolleti it also helps with Cardosa as both are Brazillians! If Lawson is interested you certainly take her! I want someone who would no only help us offensively but knows the programs tradition and wants it to return to prominence!

I wouldn't be surprised if Nicoletti goes to Florida State. Law was a very good recruiter. The vibe surrounding Tennessee can't be good right now. All the mess with Te'a and now this. I'm not being negative, but it's like Tennessee is slowly fading away.

Law's departure suggests Tennessee is fading away? Give me your dealer's number.

Didn't the LV's record decline steadly with Jolette Law as an assistant?

Good luck for her on her homecoming but no loss for UT on the coaching front, imho

I'm not just referring to Law's departure. I'm saying that there's really nothing that gives a lot of fans excitement and confidence Tennessee will be back amongst the Elite. Yes, we just signed the #1 class, but we've basically had two #1 players on the roster the last couple of seasons and has still had double digit losses. A key recruiter is gone then the mess with Te'a is not positive regarding the Lady Vols. The fear and respect of Tennessee has been left.

People will come and people will go! Sometimes change is good! I thought that's what everyone was looking for around here. Geeesshh.. give it a chance. You never know who Holly may hire! 😁😁😁😁

The only recruit that is not already enrolled is Westbrooks. Interesting enough, Law was the lead coach in her recruitment.[/QUOTE

Does any know why Westbrook hasn't enrolled yet? Sure hope we don't loose her...Holly needs to bring in a stiff recruiter who's also in tune with the female athletes of today...com'on yall!!

Many fans view both departures as positives. It gives me TONS of confidence that both left. We've been begging for an offensive whiz on the staff. Change can be scary but it's a part of life.

I don't know anything about Kara's life now and what shes involved in other than ESPN....I'd be surprised if that's it because she was always a driven person and shrived for excellence.....pretty good coaching qualities...

It is going to be up to Holly to make the job secure for her assistants. Her winning has to reflect the athletic ability of her team. The upcoming season will be a lot of pressure on Holly. The expectations are high for this team based upon its talent, so it is justified to believe this is a top ten team. I hope Holly can coach this team to play up to their talent and beyond.

This will b a huge decision by Holly. Even though we haven't been to the final 4 in awhile, coaching at Tennessee has to strike huge interest from quality candidates.

WOW !!!!! Let her go and bring someone better I know they are out there. I would offer the job to Keisha Hunt. I've watch her team play and the run like UCONN. She is the coach at Hamilton Heights Christian Academy, in Chattanooga. Could get Treasure Hunt her daughter and Kamilla Cardosa both class of 2020.

I had to let everything sink in for minute, but I actually think this move will be a positive one for Tennessee, depending on who is hired. Hopefully Holly picks up a superb assistant who knows something about offense and defense, and can assist Reaves with recruiting as well. I think Hunt is a pretty good coach and wouldn't be surprised if she gets an interview. I've been one of Kara Lawson's biggest fans since her playing days and I would LOVE to see her hired as the next assistant, shoot hire her as the associate head coach, if possible. Lol. If we're specifically looking for an assistant to coach the guards, who better than Lawson? I'm sure there may be more qualified applicants, but I feel like Lawson would help us on the court, and with recruiting. She'd be the tough disciplinarian we desperately need. I can see her mimicking Pats scowl now. Lol. Idk if Kara is ready to trade in her broadcasting career with ESPN for UT, but I do know she recently coached Aquira DeCosta as the HC of the USA 3on3 team. I hope Holly and company get this signing right. I'm gonna tweet Kara now lol.
